wow this is brilliant , complete whiteout ! i think the wind is making it alot worse than it seems

looks to be a 5 minute shower according to radar Neil but there does seem to be signs of energy brewing around the estuary as little dots are appearing readily in latest updates.

I would imagine the flash warning has been prompted by the large area of ppn shown approaching the east coast of EA on the radar. This apprears to be on the east edge of the LP and will probably start tilting somewhat more NW then W as the LP slips south.

Looks fairly potent - keep watching the radar........

SS

And now I'm deeply depressed......Collingwood is out.......................:sob:

So we can expect rain rather than snow near the coast then over the weekend? so much for a severe cold spell, surely the continent with its associated snow cover will be cold enough to keep the lower surfaces cold enough for snow, can't remember to many instances over years gone by when we have had rain/sleet on the coast from an easterly and snow further inland - trying to think!

That line of showers near the wash is something similar to what happened just before xmas and Luton got a good 4 inches from that. It looks bang on again if it holds its strength. Could be interesting!!!

Sky ink black, few snowflakes being blown about.

Very, very black, threatening looking cloud to the north - and, like yourself, flakes blowing about.

Temp just risen to 0.1deg c (would have been my first ice day since recording 4 years - but, meh!)

Cold wind really set in now and today Bromley has an Ice Day. Snow was heavy for a short while in Biggin Hill this morning which now has about 8ins of snow. Anyone else from the North Downs just interested to hear what they think of the conditions as surrounding areas do not have anywhere near that amount.
