Garston now firmly into positive territory reporting 1.4C which is quite a hike from a couple hours ago.

Liverpool airport as recorded a drop -1.2C

My Temp -1.8C

Your temp from those around here looks right to me.

Those snow showers on the east coast are looking good for potentially some snow tonight (according to the nw forecast..we are due snow this evening/tonight..and 95% chance) lol

I really can't see tonight.

Met office have taken off there warning.... Why?

I go into the detailed forecast and they are still forecasting snow.

Where is tonights snow coming from? From what I can see, it's going to be frosty and cold.

Probably snow showers as opposed to any snow or significant snow that was forecast...we got to keep an eye on those showers over on the east coast...prolly wont deliver anything but dying out before they make it far inlands..but you never know..fingers crossed.:)

Garston reached a peak of 1.8C and is now back to 1.7C

My temp -1.5C still rising quite a bit in the last half hour.

Wind is now more NNE

Wind swung to the WSW around lunchtime which was the cause of these temp rises, they then moved back to a NE

It depends if the elevation is the same height your at if it is then it will record pretty much the same temp...Temp Inversion is localized

As an example of the temperature inversion from my commute this morning:

-10c on the car thermometer in the Irwell Valley (north manchester), 150m ASL .

-6c on top of the moors over Grane Road, 350m ASL.

-10c on M65 by Darwen, 100m ASL

-11c on M6 by Preston, 10m ASL

I know the car thermometer not that accurate, but demonstrates the point and the very low manchester readings, around 70m ASL, probably in a hollow with cold air draining off the Pennines.

Also crystal clear "alpine" air when on the moors, and looking down you could see the trapped "haze" below the inversion.

The Met Ofiice warnings make me laugh-it was only a couple of hours ago they had a heavy snow advisory out for 90% of southern Uk (the northern border being South of our region).

Now theyv'e changed their minds and taken most of them off. I know things can change fast-but if that's the case, why bother with the stupid advisories in the first place-complete waste of time and effort.
