Tonight's T+96 and T+120 FAX charts:

http://www.meteociel.fr/ukmo/fax/fax96s.gif

http://www.meteociel.fr/ukmo/fax/fax120s.gif

Looks more akin to the UKMO output at this stage.

Good or bad in your opinion?

A bit "much of a muchness" really- UKMO, ECMWF, GFS 12Z and GFS 18Z all fantastic if it's a fair dumping of the white stuff you're after, and especially so if you live to the east of high ground.

I've been away since the 12z ECM on Hogmanay. Seems like that was just a blip then! :)

It was, then the next day's ECM 12z produced some of the best charts in the internet age!

I have just finished work for the day, and I just wanted to say a big thank you to all the over excited guys on here for making me laugh while I should be working. Best quotes today were, "we could be in for a new ice age", "this could dump 50 feet of snow", and my favourite just in "The gfs 12z would spell armageddon for yorkshire/linconshire/east midlands/south east." Keep up the good work boys.

I think that some of them secretly work for the trashier tabloids and write the ridiculous headlines that we see when we're due a slight frost. :)

Hi, Rock Squad and welcome to Netweather..

Have a squint at the fax charts - Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday seem particularly promising.

Don't worry it'll snow. All severe winters have heavy snow at some point :) The models show massive protential over the next 2 or 3 weeks.

We may well end up with a forecast a bit like this come next week;

indeed i agree infact over the last few weeks there has been similar looking patterns to 63,

i think we just need to wait to see how bad it gets.

Having said all of this I remember back in the 1980's when the countryfile forecast would underestimate snowfall amounts during an E,ly. The week forecast often only used to mention scattered snow showers. However as the week progressed the forecast would change to prolonged heavy snow showers giving periods of snow. If the models continue the same then thats the kind of forecasts to expect in E areas.

Just noticed your comment, Countryfile in the 80's, you mean Farming Diary on Anglia, better that teh BBC's output, which I've forgotten the name of :yahoo:
