I worked out the other day that I haven't let the fire (which heats the house and does the hot water) go out since November 19th. I reckon I'm burning about £50/worth of logs and getting through about £80/worth of coal a month...but I've no idea what that costs compared to normal oil or gas.

After I've slipped on the ice getting the fuel inside, at least there's somewhere nice and cosy to sit while I wait for the air ambulance.

A beautiful sunny winters day here , very frosty start to the day min -3C before temps slowly rising to 1C and now dropping again, currently 0C.

Min of -2.5c with a lot of frost about,some low cloud come in from the east temp got upto 1.8c

Dropped soon after when the fog came at 0.6c freezing fog a little higher up.

An ice day matching Christmas Day, not as cold as the morning of the 25th but temps I think bottomed out at -4 degrees, reaching a max of 0 degrees and then suddenly dropping to -3 degrees by 5pm.

However, some high level cloud looks like rolling in overnight scuppering chances of a very cold night being recorded.

Conditions are exceptionally icy,many major roads having black ice here in the South Lakes with minor roads still a no go zone, fields and lanes still covered in thick layer of snow and the fells are looking splendid.
