Cloudy and bitterly cold here in Haydock, and the BBC appear to be snow man atm, with a whole section on News 24 to the pending doom we will all face :drunk: Wrap up warm and stay safe

My reading is showing as -1, I think this is a little low going from the earlier post from Old Trafford Cricket ground which is probably 1.5 miles from here. Just been out with the dog and to get beers in - feels a little warmer out than this afternoon.

Correction - was showing as -1, now +1 !

Right on the coast here. It's 0c and dp-2. May start as rain but I believe we will see some wintry precipitation.

It will definitely turn to snow when the heavier precipitation moves in, give it time! good.gif

This could be going breasties up at the last min the front is weakening rapidly and we need heavy precip to keep the trmps down.

We could end up with a period of rain/sleet/wet snow here.

Talk of just snow ahead of the band when it was in the midlands looks to be on very shaky ground right now.

Dude... Have you seen how slow it's moving.. 3 hours of snow easily. (well 3 hours of rain for me).

80% humidity, -3 degrees and rapidly falling pressure.

Am getting eager to see what this front will bring once it hits these hills.

Edit:

Could be supercooled or freezing rain as it is more commonly known, often caused by a transient layer of warm air higher up.

I want snow as much as the next person, at no point was the ever mentioned 3hrs of snow from this system, the front edge of the percipitaion if far to light and weak and the heavy echos have lost its intecerty.

Thanks,

The rain is VERY slight and isnt even wetting the ground.... Still, looks like it's going to rain later..:(

Down the A41 near Malpas here, rain at first but has readily turned to snow. Been snowing for nearly 1/2 - 3/4 hour lightish wet stuff at first but sticking well to all surfaces. Now seems more like the proper thing - laying well.

There is your answer then, very fine drops I take it?

Small drops require a much colder temperature and higher humidity to freeze in to snow than larger ones due to fluid and surface tensions, once the front sets in more and the heavier precipitation arrives you will likely start seeing it turn to wet snow.
