Meto has a warning for us for Icy Roads but says rain turning to sleet and snow. :nonono:

Hi all,

Temp here in north oxfordshire is 2.0deg And rising from -7.2 this morning

Just to let you all know its RAINING here!

Have you seen this rainfall radar from the Met?

Yes Nick...I've noticed a rise to 1C...we're going to be either very lucky or very unlucky.....the GFS based NW Radar is showing cannock/staff/telford area as the battle ground this evening...a real 50/50!

I've stopped looking at the radar. I can see a weak spot in it and it looks to be heading straight for us. I am just going to check the lamp post periodically.

That ppn gap looks scary , it looks like it is gonna go East and West of leicester . If we can't even get ppn from this direction I give up.

Were at 1c / due 0 so real knife edge in Leicester.

How long do ya reckon we got to wait 1 hour? there may be the odd spot of very light rain before the band hits us, do you think the main stuff will be snow though? awaiting reports from cov praying they say snow, seem to be heading from them

The sky has a slight orangey tint to it. Thats gotta be good! :nonono:

either!....it could end up as heavy sleet, or heavy snow...I like the 'rain today' radar link, it shows it beautifully....I guess one thing working in our favour is that generally telford/cannock/stafford area has elevation (100m+) so it gives us a chance...Lamp post watching time! :drinks:

If we end up in the gap it will be spits and spots of light rain ... If we get in the heavy stuff I just don't know. Everything I have learnt about weather forecasting is saying it won't be snow. Basicly it all depends on what the temp is at 850 mb right now and as we don't get this information live then who knows. The further West you are the better cause it is further away from the warm sector.

heavy rain causing flooding here in oxford..

So thats heading your way!!

Gd luck as we have been very unlucky been stuck in middle of all snow systems

Thurs nite:- Too far east the snow was

Fri:- Showers to south and north of us

Sat:- Rain then light snow - didnt settle

Sun Night:- Settled slightly..

Mon:- Rain first then bliazzrds only 2inchs

Tues and weds:- Zilch

As i speak lightnig outside and snowflakes in with the rain :S
