It was overcast during most of the night which meant it was slightly milder than recent days with a min temp of -1.6C.

Clear and sunny today though with a current temperature of -0.1C, the maximum so far. Still no thaw in the snowcover, but it has compacted now to around 2cm. Tonight could well see the end of it.

A second ice day in five days with a maximum temperature of -0.1C. Skies have been clear all day and have remained that way leading to the temperature plummeting already to -2.1C.

Strangely the maxima for the last 5 days have been 0.1C, -0.1C, 0.1C, 0.1C and -0.1C. I thought the sensor might be iced up but its completely clear, so just a strange coincidence!

Interesting would be today's word for me!

1.Started off at home with minus 6.2c and freezing fog.

2.Encountered sleet and freezing rain near Yeovil, and latterly heavy rain.

3.Saw distant lightning shortly before 18.00 which turns out to have been 50/60 miles away.

4.Arrived home to a covering of hail on the ground! Then more heavy rain/icy roads.

Max today of 0.7c which has dropped to 0.4c now. Conditions are icy.
