Temps all over the place tonight, from -2 DgC in Burgess Hill up to + 4 DgC, 5 miles South then back down to 1 DgC in Eastbourne. Roads that have been previously gritted have had that grit washed away and the remaining slush in Mid Sussex will turn to some horrible sheet ice overnight. I would rather there was a huge snowstorm that stopped me going into work than face the ice rink, ungritted A27 tomorrow!

That's some temperature differential! Temperatures here have gone down from +6 early this afternoon to around -2 now. Brighton and Hove City Council are getting a lot of criticism over their gritting operations, with many pavements still dangerous, and Cityclean, a private contractor, being blamed for not having full grit bins in many areas and the council being blamed for the removal of grit bins.

Looks like we might have some rain tomorrow morning coming in from the coast according to that? But temps and dew points are already low so I wonder if it might be a bit of a wintery mix.

Lots of black ice and snow melt ice here, clear and 0c. It's a shame those showers running up the Channel at the moment can't swing a little further this way!

well max temps are forecast to be about 5 °C. but it is the coldest part of the night so you never know. they may turn out to be colder than 5 and sleet/snow is possible. other factors dependant of course :(

some of them actually look quite heavy too. Coast posted earlier that there was lightning in the channel. pity the wind direction didn't swing and blow a cold wind off of france and the showers across Kent/SE London :(

Just been out for a walk to the local shop and it is magical. Really hard frost and snow still laying everywhere. Its like we've had glitter dropped over everything, more bling than Jay Z!

Truly a beautiful gift (unless your trying to drive in it!)

A very cold night with some serious problems on the roads in rural areas in the morning and probably throughout tomorrow

We think although not 100 per cent sure we had a little snow in the last few minutes, just looked out of window and cars are very white but they werent before, although may just be ice forming.

Shame there isn't any PPN around here at the mo (City Of London), good conditions for snow to settle, low temps and cold dry surfaces

Two local roads around here today have remained closed. Both have steep incline. One is a main a road alot of people use to get to the m3. With the temps tonight i cant see them opening tomo either.

We certainly were'nt affected as badly as other areas so i imagine this scenario is replicated through out the country.

just had a quick check of Temps around the SE, and as Dallas says, if it were heavy cloud i am sure there would be snow. the opposite is actually what we have, clear skies leading to frost and fog or Frog if you like :(
