I've been told that the Met-Office's "day" runs from 9am to 8.59am, so any minimum would be between those hours. When I work out how many air-frosts I have (for example) I use that method, otherwise I could easily count two air frosts when it was simply below freezing one minute before midnight and one minute afterwards.

As for today, it looks like being the first single digit maximum since March 29th with the highest so far today of just 9.2C. Currently it's 8.8C and raw.

well a max of 11c this morning and a min of 2.5c last night before the cloud came in , but now the temp has dropped away off and it is 8.5c due to fog which is slowly clearing hope this dosnt make temp rise over 10c!:D

A min of 1.7°C last night before the thicker cloud came in and has been cloudy and dull for the duration of the day. One good thing about the cloud though it's pegged the temperature right back, haven't got above 9.2°C today, so the first single figure max of the season.

You're correct although there are a few Met' office stations which report night min' and day max, night being 2100-0900 and day being 0900-2100. I'm not sure how these stations go on if the max' occurs overnight or the min' during the day as often happens in the winter half of the year.

For parameters like snowfall, thunder, hail the Met' Office day runs from midnight to midnight as in a 'normal' day.

A sunny morning here but it's clouded over since 1300 g.m.t and is currently dry and cloudy with a temp' of 8.1c.

Drizzle over the peaks futher north.

12.0c maximum today, we were really quite cold until about 1pm, it was only 8.1c outside!

What was your max Stephen?

Currently 11.8c and cloudy.

See my post above. Both max' and min' temperatures run from 0900-0900 g.m.t; grass minima though are only recorded overnight for official purposes.

the data is 'thrown back' so everything then refers to 09-09 anyway.

If it stays cloudy and breezy here I know who'll win :D I may not be able to tell you tonight though. My WS records the temperatures but is not always online, and I'm not at home.

After a cold night and a cloudy start it brightened up mid morning to leave a rather cool day with long sunny spells. Temperature's dropping fast now - currently partly cloudy, 8.9 deg C, light SW wind. Today's maximum 13.2, last night's minimum 2.9, the coldest day and night of the season so far.
