The moderate rain earlier this morning was short lived, most of it going well to the north west of here. Since 0915 g.m.t it's been mainly dry and cloudy, just a few short bursts of light rain, and the thick fog cleared by 1030 g.m.t.

Very mild at the moment with the temperaure at 15.7c.

Granted todays weather isn't everyones cup of tea but I found it very interesting indeed.

At 1pm temperatures were circa 20C, with a dewpoint to match, heavy rain at times, but nowhere near as heavy as the rain that appears to have been reported. 13.7mm of rain have falling today, making it the single wettest day of the year here!

wind is slowly swinging from SSW-W following on from some quite heavy rain, at one time falling at 37.6mm p hour, temp still up at 18.1C with dewpoint on 16.3C, more like mid summer dewpoints, and a max today of 21.2C.

Be a shock by late evening as the cold air comes in and even more so in the morning-maybe a min of 4-5C.

Ive been watching this incredible little feature ;-

http://www.sat24.com/homepage.aspx?html=zoom&xas=200&yas=200

its a vortex spinning away off the southern irish coast heading roughly east.

Ive been watching it for well over 24 hours. Yesterday morning it was a singular

feature I can only describe that looked like a minature hurricane eye included.

At around 11.00Am on 5/10/09 it was poisitoned roughly 400 miles WSW of Normandy

and has drifted NNE to join the tail end of the slow moving front over SW Ireland.

I cannot ever remember seeing a feature like this for its longetivity. It resembled

a "Super" supercell yesterday morning, and began to take on the form of a "minature

hurricane" by lunchtime yesterday. and by jove, its still there going strong. Looks

like an abnormality in the troposphere causing a long lived vortex. Anyone know where

we can find Visable light sat pictures for the last 24 hours ( daylight ) to verify

this... All very odd indeed. Surely Im not the only one who has noticed this, and there

is another post somewhere else where this is already being discussed.

Here you go.. run these for the last 24 hours and take a look

Its even changed course in the last 6-7 hours and could now track east even over London !!

It became very muggy and humid around midday with a max of 19.8c. Some light to moderate rain early on followed by a drier interlude before the dark clouds gathered. Some really quite heavy rain now. Looking forward to waking up to a lovely crisp and sunny morning tomorrow.

As expected a cloudy start, with a little rain around, eventually recording only 2.4mm. A few brighter spells through the afternoon and warm and humid as expected....and yet saw 2 joe public wearing gloves. (one also a scarf), at lunchtime ...yes gloves :). Looking forward to the potential 'drenching' overnight into tomorrow....give that rain gauge some work to do....I say potential, as 'heavy rain' has a habit of fragmenting and dissipating as it approaches these parts !!!!
