Parma has re-strengthened in the Gulf Of Tonkin. Latest satellite imagery depicts an eye like feature surrounded by an intense band on convection. Convection over the LLC is quite shallow however. Intensity has risen to 55kts. Landfall in Vietnam is imminent now, and besides the rains, severe gales are likely too.

I think JTWC may have underestimated Parma's intensity when it was located in the Gulf Of Tonkin, if that image is anything to go by Parma may well have regained typhoon status after crossing Hainan Island. It's amazing how Hainan Island did absolutely nothing to Parma's intensity- the island is well known for weakening storms before they hit Northern Vietnam or Southern China. Not in this case.

Parma has finally made it's fifth landfall after stalling again. Convection is rapidly dissipating and Parma will cease to be within a matter of hours over northern Vietnam.

What an amazing system, in terms of longetivity and bizarre track including large amounts of stalling.
