A wet and windy night with some periods of heavy rain during yesterday evening and again during the early hours of this morning. The main rain area cleared to the north by 0930 g.m.t and since then it's been windy with frequent short light-moderate showers.

26.5 mm of rain in the 24 hours up to 0900 this morning and perhaps another couple since then.

At 0900 the mean wind speed was 33 mph, gusting to 55

Temp' is 11.1c at the moment. The overnight min' was 10.2c.

Managed 13c in Whaley this afternoon TM, balmy compared to you. We now have frequent heavy and blustery showers, finished outside now thank goodness. Roll on winter, at least I'll know what clothes to put on.

Been driving around in Central Lancs today. Flooded roads and fields. Down the road one huge tree had fallen in the early hours today, fortunately away from traffic. Huge showery downpours, specially this afternooon. But we have seen some spells of sunshine now and then. Max temp today 13.3C. Now 11.6C. WNW wind strong all day, but died down a bit tonight.

An overcast start with heavy rain gave way to a blustery day with some sunshine. The maximum temperature of 16.8C was the coolest since June 8th.

It is currently mostly clear with a temp of 12.5C. Theres still a very strong wind though.

Also notable was the pressure which bottomed out at 984.5hPa - the lowest since March 4th.
