That's pretty low for August! All the cloud cover here recently has insured it has remained in double figures. Most night's have been 11.5-12c. 14.5c here currently so maybe a bit cooler tonight.

We got down to 6c last week! Think it is the coldest August low I have ever recorded.

post-2744-12518401663529_thumb.jpg1. First ground frost 24th September

2. First snowfall 29th October

3. First subzero night 30th October

If this seems as early as last year one of the reasons I expect a repeat is that almost all the swallows have left again as last year. In the 15 years prior to 2006 we had got used to large numbers remaining till early October when Autumns remained mild and we now have a hedgehog stuffing himelf every night from the cat bowls every evening at the front door, nature is forecasting cool weather soon??? although she sometimes gets it wrong as well. Picture is from the 28th October 2008

Where i live if you know Cardiff at all there is a hilly area in the North border of the county where land rises to 1007ft,

Hi Wales 120398,

I originally come from Merthyr, one of my enduring memories of the winter is seing the snow line on the mountain on the other side of the valley, always thought it amazing that it seemed to cut off at that line.

Having done predictions for all of UK, my Predictions for where I live (North Norfolk) are

First Ground Frost October 18th

First Snowfall January 08th (we are rubbish at snow, too close to the North Sea, a good Easterly Gale helps, as in Jan 1987, when we had drifts of 4-5 feet and I ploughed into one in my car)

First night below 0C December 17th

Ooh that's looking better! :(

It was only a minimum of 12.1c here last night :( pretty disappointing but there is definetly a coolness in the air now, which is very well timed considering yesterday was the first day of autumn. Strangely enough it's not been too bad a day here. It had reached about 18c and been intermittently sunny as well into the bargain!

Can't wait for the first single figures night!

Autumn again now september is just going something similar to last year currently WET,but it`s not going to be anything like as wet to last early sept till the 10th, it was the wettest start on record here with 78mm and the river severn overflowed for the first time ever in september.

But overall this month can still bring summer weather, the charts are showing this so a last resort thundery spell could still happen even here.

As for first frosts etc I`ll show last years.

September 27th:1st ground frost in deep hollow.

October 4th First widespread ground frost.

October 3rd First sleet shower record earliest I`ve recorded.

October 27th 1st falling snow.

October 28th 1st lying snow.

October 29th 1st air frost.

October 30th First drifting snow smash record. :shok:

Will be interesting to see if any of those can be beaten this year or how much of a difference there will be between them.

October 1992 which was the coldest gave the first sleet shower on the 15th but no snow that month.

October 16th first air frost.

First falling snow november 14th
