Premier League Prediction League Results

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

Welcome to the results thread where you can find out how well you have (or haven't) been doing!

The first week threw up some rather surprising results, and they were as follows:

Saturday 15th August 2009:

Chelsea 2-1 Hull - 12:45pm

Aston Villa 0-2 Wigan - 15:00

Blackburn 0-2 Manchester City - 15:00

Bolton 0-1 Sunderland - 15:00

Portsmouth 0-1 Fulham - 15:00

Stoke 2-0 Burnley - 15:00

Wolves 0-2 West Ham - 15:00

Everton 1-6 Arsenal - 17:30

Sunday 16th August 2009:

Manchester United 1-0 Birmingham - 13:30

Tottenham 2-1 Liverpool - 16:00

(1 point awarded for getting the correct result, but not the scoreline

3 points awarded for getting the correct scoreline)

Bonus Questions -

1) How many goals will be scored by the AWAY teams listed above?

There were 16 goals scored by the AWAY teams. Only one person got this right - well done Higrade - 5 points coming your way!

2) How many yellow cards will be issued in the above matches?

There were 29 yellow cards in the above matches. No-one got this right - shame on us!

(5 points awarded for each correct answer)

So, taking all that into account, this is the league table after Week 1

1. ajpoolshark 13 points

2. Davehsug 12 points

3. Geordiesnow 10 points

4. Higrade 10 points

5. Flash Elvis 9 points

6. Koppite 9 points

7. Andy Bown 7 points

8. Chionomaniac 7 points

9. Icy toes 7 points

10. Stormchaser1 7 points

11. Timmy H 7 points

12. Windswept 7 points

13. Jackone 6 points

14. Phil UK 6 points

15. Sufc 6 points

16. Nick2702 5 points

17. Pinball Wizard 5 points

18. Barry 4 points

19. Paul B 4 points

20. Pete Tattum 3 points

21. Thundery Wintry Showers 3 points

So the early leader with a excellent weekly score of 13 is Ajpoolshark - excellent scoring! Davehsug is just behind with 12 and Geordiesnow makes 3rd place on 10 thanks to alapbetical order! Sorry Higrade! But you do have the consolation of being the only person to get a bonus question right this round and thus picking up those 5 bonus points!

Pete Tattum and Thundery Wintry Showers - don't worry, the only way is up, and there is a long, long way to go!

Thanks everyone for taking part this week, and please don't forget to enter the next round. Questions are already up, and the deadline is TUESDAY at 19:30, so be quick! Go to: http://www.netweathe...ost__p__1579412 to enter!

If there are any queries, or if you think I have made a mistake, please PM me. :)

Hi Pete,

A "double-points week" is a week in which you can score double because you missed entering a round. So if you were away on holiday for example, you have two choices...you can PM me for the questions beforehand and submit them back to me by PM, or you can elect a week in which your score will be doubled (but you'd need to PM me your prefeered double points week otherwise I will just apply double points to the next week that you enter).

Hope that makes sense! http://nwstatic.co.uk/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif

Theres one flaw i do have with double points and this post won't be popular with folk but people can deliberately miss a week and then claim double points and if they get a high score then they could actually get more points than they would normally would. Conversely if you try that and you get a low double point score you will slide down the table.

I just wonder, maybe onlu double points should be awarded if its proven you have not been on here for over a week as there is not really an excuse to predict is there? If you simply forgot then thats your fault imo.

Just a suggestion, Paul - why not have a 'Joker' system (like in Jeux Sans Frontier [sp?]), where everyone has one opportunity per season to claim double points?

If I forget to enter - tough poo?? :)

If people prefer to just have one double points opportunity per season then thats fine with me. I think the idea that people will delibertly miss a week in order to then try and get double points every other week is probably a bit far fetched, and in all honesty I doubt they would make much, if any, gain. The idea of double points is to try and keep people interested really, as in my experience if someone misses a couple of weeks, they then give up altogether.
