Noctilucent Clouds

Woke up just before 3am this morning (very rare for me to do so!) to see a decent display of noctilucent clouds on the horizon out my window. they remained visible until just after 4am and gradually moved closer (higher angle in the sky) and developed more pronounced ripple effects in them.

Ive always wanted to see these clouds since first hearing about them last year and finally saw them last night!

I spent a while looking for my camera but when I finally found it I found a 'starry sky' setting with 15 sec shutter speed which worked very well!

Very pleased with how some of the photos came out considering It was my first attempt and I don't have a proper expensive camera.

Daylight began to become a problem after this point and it also started to cloud over.

Enjoy. <_<

Great pictures, some of them look like ripples in water

Thanks for the comments everyone!

I was aiming for atmospheric pics with the river in the foreground, the low cloud bank and the noctilucent clouds shining above them.. Maybe just need to remove the power poles/cables now!

yes also thought some looked like ripples on water too

Those are some sexy clouds you got there

Ahh always like a few 'sexy' clouds around :)

And welcome to Netweather :)

"Remember romance, the way we could dance..."

Sorry.

Having checked the skies, nothing promising for me tonight. But ah, such is life.

NOCTILUCENT CLOUDS I MEAN!!

Happy NLC's. And if not then NLCs is a back up acronym for... Night Less Covers. (It's feeling humid!)

Goodnight all. See ya tomorrow!

Phil.
