Got between 3 and 4 inches covering here now after some really potent snow and hail showers this morning with a couple more rumbles of thunder as well. :D

Couldn't believe shaffer-nackers on the bbc forecasting half a metre for the penines tonight.

Judging by the latest Meteox radar I would suggest that it will be a struggle to keep any trans-Pennine routes open in a few hours time, probably including the M62. Exciting indeed !

I think it'll come in across the M62 line so we'll all get it at once (roughly) instead of waiting downstream of the Guy who's having the shower. Looks to be 1/2 an hour away and ,if the meto radar is to be believed, looks likely to start heavy and carry on that way!!! Perfect for rush hour :)

EDIT: Talking to the guys from Hull and west really.....Oon will be delayed...but then..... :)

This is definitely further W than expected. We need a pivot if Eern Pennine areas are to be badly affected. Currently it looks like heading right into Lancs!

The plains Indians had a 'snow saying'

"Little flakes, big flakes, big snow. Big flakes, little flakes, small snow"

I wonder if they are right??? Small flakes here and blustery. :)

I'm not sure what constitutes an official blizzard, but it's certainly snowing very heavily now. Took a quick vid out of the window (warning - it's nearly 4 Mb):

Still at work (Just south of bradford). Heavy snow falling here now.

Just to your west here and the bad news is the 'plume' of heavy stuff (on the meto radar) has now turned 'pink' as it approaches us......s'not for stopping any time soon!!

EDIT: Hi Pennine! just watched your vid and can confirm we're getting the same:) The winds really blowing it around so we should have some nice 'snow sculptures' by the morning!!!

Sleet/rain reported down the east coast, and Hull, already, which is very disappointing. Poor forecasting it must be said - this easterly has been a huge let down for some NE areas.

Its been pretty dissapointing in Newcastle upon tyne so far. Had some, but not much and its pretty wet. Hope the main band moving north delivers some prolonged snow

It is looking pretty special!

Thankfully I brought all my hiking gear including water proof trousers and hiking boot to work so I can walk the 4 miles home if it gets too bad to drive.

For some reason I didn't fancy cycling in this morning.
