a dissapointing mix of rain & sleet here, which considering I am about 25 miles from the sea and at around 170 metres up is pretty poor. I had today as a nailed on day off, i'll have to go in now. Even though it has been 90% rain, none of the snow from the last few days has melted.

Snowing heavily here and its very windy. Branches are snapping in the garden due to the weight of the snow.

Morning all,

Its snowing heavily here in Teesdale with 3.5inches of laying snow, it is also fairly windy. We're at 293m asl and have had to abandon going to work as the snow plough hasn't been through yet and the cars are just sliding around!

It has been snowing here for an hour or more.

Coming down quite hard in the strong wind, but only

settling patchily. The roads just look wet ..

Started snowing at 11pm last night, about 3 hrs ahead of expectation. Was disappointed to wake up to a sprinkling of slush, especially following Rob McElwee's forecast last night. I think there was (and still is) a bit of over egging for conditions up here, even higher up. Can't see 20cm+ even at 200m. Maybe at 600m!

Half way to a serious dump here. One of the leylandi has lost a branch to the weight of snow, and I'm worried that the Christmas Tree, which has fallen over in the wind, may have lost the top two foot or so when it crashed against a wall - not good.

Intensity was up around 40 at 6am, almost up at blizzard levels given the wind.

Here's an early piccy...

Looks like about 5" out there, on which basis UKMO was pretty good, and for the second time this week we've been right at the epicentre of the best of it.

Still snowing here in Consett, a good few inches now.

Nothing in Jarrow when I left there, but apparently snow there is a covering there too.

Decent cover here I guess, I'd say I have more than PP's 3cm but I haven't measured it. It's taken me 1 hour 15 mins to to travel 11 miles to work. Snow eased for a while but I'd say it's moderate to heavy here next to the A19 near Peterlee (at work now).

I`m just under 400ft here and seen only half an inch of wet snow thats almost gone now,

seems 30-40 mile north makes all the difference as west yorks appears to have a few inches at similar elevations?

Nice pic Stratos BTW

Started snowing here about 04:30 this morning (4th December) and has continued up to and including now. Snow is VERY wet but has been sticking a bit and there is about an inch of slushy stuff about where it has fallen on grass/roads etc. Where it has fallen on the remainders of Tuesdays snowfall it is about the same depth but not slushy, just really slippery.

Temperature is 1C at the moment and has been holding steady all morning. There was a heavier spell of snow for about half an hour at 07:30 this morning that was responsible for much of the slush.

All in all wintry, but very unpleasant at the moment.

Muff.

A little over 10cm of fresh snow overnight here with a fair amount of drifting. The snow turned to sleet by 0745 and rain an hour later. Average level depth at 0900 was 12.2cm with a steady thaw.
