4.5 C ... prolonged cold more likely in Jan than Dec, expecting a month with large variations, mild and perhaps stormy around mid month, colder both ends. Should all average out a bit below the recent normals but near the 350-yr average.

While Id love a cold December, Im going with my head on this one:

A moderately mild 5.6C

Given the first 10 days are increasingly looking below average, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a below average month overall, so I'll go with 4.2C for this one.
