Glad to hear you are all safe if a little shaken. You will have to build a TIV Paul for the next chase session.

Blimey, what can one say! At least you are all safe, which is the main thing. What an experience - you sure won't forget that in a hurry.

Yes

Todays Chase was a strange one where all the cells were High Precipitation, the first Cone Tornado which knocked the train over was only viewable from behind it, or in the RFD Area, luckily (Or Unluckily for Kearney) it struck the South of Town so our East route was not blocked to follow the Cyclic Supercell, it had already dropped 3 Tornadoes before we got in behind it, we then had to follow it East down I80 Where it dropped another 2 Tornadoes near Grand Island, after that it looked like Crap on radar so with it 5 miles behind us to the South West we gassed up and got some food at the Arbys. In the time it took us to do that the radar scan had gone from crap to Hook Echo and F3/F4 Tornado literally above our heads, all the lights went out at the Gas Station and I was stupidly fillig up the Tyre pressure, when I looked up there was the Tornado above the Gas Station canopy, I just got into the car and drove it side on just to the right of the Canopy, that got ripped off early, on my video footage the whole thing lasted 6 minutes, some pieces of House were battering the car and then the Hail came, complete nightmare but it wont stop me coming back.

I wonder if I can buy TIV 1 At a knock down price :o

Scary

Now we all wanted you to see Tornado's here but we really didn't except you to try film the inside of one.

Glad you all safe.

Wow, hell of a story to tell the kids when you get back.

Real glad you're all okay after your adventure. It may sound strange but God I wish I had been there! (sigh)

Mr Sherman to the Hertz car rental man when returning the car…..

“Oh I hadn’t noticed that little scuff mark on the car. I can’t think how that happened.…. I’m sure it’ll T-cut out.”

Seriously though… glad you guys are safe. That’s the most important thing.

(Wall Mart sell upholstery cleaner and a boil wash should sort out your smalls.) :o

I was watching last night and I'd really hoped you'd dropped down to KS after the cell went through Kearney. It looked horrendous on radar not long later and I couldn't see it ramping back up the way it did. I'd certainly have abandoned that cell :D The storm behind was also tornado warned but looked terrible, and then over the course of maybe 2 radar frames, the rear storm and the mess which was left of the old storm congealed into one big blob of a hook echo and started spinning violently. I couldn't see any way back for that cell but it proved me wrong. I'd say it was a good call to stick with it given it produced again, but bad call on being right in the path  You are supposed to be chasing these storms, not the other way round!

I've seen a few images of the Kansas tornadoes and there were some beauties down there also, but you were not alone as 6 chasers got hit by a tornado near Beloit, KS late in the evening. Just some minor injuries there as it was not a strong one, but seemed like a bad day for the insurance companies all around! HP Supercells on High Risk days is always a bit hairy I guess.

We are on the Move shortly towards the Slight Risk in Eastern Kansas, our last chase day, but over the next fews hours check out "Channel 8 klkn.com or klkn.tv as the ITV Cameraman has been on doing an interview and also I got interviewed just after the Tornado hit yesterday and a brief moment of glory for me is on there, we have videoed it from the Hotel room so if you cant find it later we will upload, Nicks Youtube footage will be up shortly as well.

Given the dramatic events of yesterday, I thought it might be a good idea to record the official damage reports in the outbreak across e NE and n/c to ne KS ... all times are CDT and you need to add five hours to get the appropriate GMT (e.g., 7:34 pm, the obs close to the gas station in question, would translate to May 30 0034z) ...
