The team are following this cell as its produced a rope tornado already and threatens to

drop another.

Dennis Sherrod is on this cell also. http://www.severestudios.com/cgi-bin/strea...rrod&uid=21

Dodgy stream at times unfortunately

Image frozen now. Must be out of UTMS coverage.

Any of you been following whats being going on in Iowa? Reports of a large long tracked wedge tornado going through several populated areas.

Severe damage in Parkersburg, Northern Dunkerton, Northern WAterloo, Fairbank, Hazelton and the couplet has since passed over the town of Lamont and Aurora and is almost over Dundee right now with a large rain wrapped tornado reported still on the ground. The couplet is very pronounced considering it is scanning very high in the clouds due to the range from the radar site.

Last Tornado warning update confirms damage in Dundee also. Greeley is next in line. This thing is going just south of east following the track of one of the highways in the area, and so it's going through many towns where as if it had tracked a couple of miles north for it's entire apth, it wouldn't have hit any towns...

Looks like things are looking to go linear. The potential for a derecho type event is pretty good. Damage vide from the Iowa tornado looks incredibly severe. At least an EF4 damage in a relatively new subdivision which was completely flattened I'd imagine... Sadly several fatalities are being reported already in IA and MN. The storms have consolidated into a MCS in these areas at least the strong tornado threat should diminish a little. Brief tornados are still quite likely for a little while longer...

Hi Mick

Pretty frustrating day Mick, we like hundreds of other chasers awoke in Nebraska and hauled down to Kansas, our original Target this morning was Iowa  But at least we are in the Zone for tomorrow. Got onto a Tornado warned cell just north of Russell and this had a very low wall cloud, think it could have produced as have something roping out on Video, poor contrast, we then stairstepped the line of Storms South of Hays but all of these were very Outflow Dominant, lots of Lightning (If you like that sort of thing) and large hail, but we booked into a hotel at 745Pm in the end as this does not look like producing, we have a Massive MCS the size of France to look forward to tonight, just then a Lightning Strike just blew out a Powerline next to our Hotel as well, looking better for tomorrow, only took a few Pics today, Storm is now cranking up in Great Bend.

thanks Paul, frustrating maybe, but lets hope tomorrow brings the goods to you rather then you having to chase too far. keep out of the way of those lightning strikes mate, sounds pretty rough.

Just seen video of the parkersburg tornado and it appears to be a massive wall cloud which just descended to the ground. Brief footage from chasers driving through the far southern part of town showed every building in that area completely flattened to the foundations

Video intermittently being shown on this site... http://www.kcrg.com/
