A wintry March blast from the past

From about the 11th of March 1930, a block around Greenland developed and this allowed a cold Arctic airflow across the UK bringing spells of snow at times and severe frosts (-16.1C at Newport, Shropshire). This spell lasted until the 26th.

Scottish mean: 2.4

Northern Irish mean: 4.5

An interesting read, thanks Mr D. I'm hoping I will see similar scenes this weekend for my location! You never Know.

It was interesting to note thay got the local unemployed out to clear the streets. What would be the chances of that happening these days?

Also interesting to note the very radid thaw when the sun came out. Just goes to show that any snow falling this weekend is unlikely to stick around for very long. Better make them snowmen quick
