The V4 version of the 5 minute radar is now online, it is a beta version currently, but is stable enough to make available while we continue with its development.

It has many new features including:

  • New image sizing and proportion for an improved view
  • New optional scale with colour topographical background
  • Integrated Euro Radar
  • Weather station data overlays
  • Postcode zooms favourites system
  • Lightning overlay available on zoomed images
  • Option to save favourite settings
  • Integrated cumulative rainfall display

As it is still a beta version there may still be some bugs within it, so please report them to us if you come across any issues. Development of this version will be ongoing so further features may well be added, we are also developing a new control panel which will be released soon as we move toward the final version of V4.

For current extra subscribers, you will see the option to go to the New V4 radar in the menus across the site, for those who are not currently subscribing, further information on the radar is available here:

http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=...ype=radar;sess=

Any feedback you have on this new version will be much appreciated!

Paul

There isn't an option to use V4 in the drop down menu Paul. And the postcode zoom box seems to be absent.

It's not in the drop down in Extra as yet, I'll do that shortly but it is in the side menus within the datacentre and on the extra homepage :)

It's in the menu now, it is now also available to radar only and lite subscribers as we had initially (accidentally) not enabled their access.

And the postcode zoom box seems to be absent.

Postcode zoom is definitely there, I've labelled it up a little better now as it may not have been clear before.

Thanks Paul.

I did try that box but nothing happened but as you said it's not active yet it makes sense.

As a suggestion would it be better to move the postcode box next to the postcode button.

Potentially it may be, but we're going to be re-doing the interface on there before we move out of beta as it's a bit cluttered at the moment, so it should become more intuitive once that's done!

Looks great, it's good to have the accumilation feature on the 5min radar, I used it loads on the old radar.

I've already got a few postcodes saved which is very handy.

We just need some rain now to have a good look at the new scale.

Very impressed with what i've seen so far, well done everyone involved :)

regardless of the improvements, now i see no reason why anyone should'nt subscribe to the best UK radar imagery on the net..!

Very impressive, Paul. I love the overlay feature on the postcode zoom and the postcode save feature is very useful.

Can't wait for some rain!

Very nice just lacking cloud cover that would really set it up.

our resident genius does it again, very good Karl.

A question Paul, I see there is still no data for Doncaster airport, its there routinely on XC Weather.

Could we have it please?

Hi John, we're definitely getting data for it, it's called robin hood airport on our system, not sure why it's not on the radar though, will ask karl about it.
