Although it won't hit any part of the UK or Ireland, the deep low moving towards Greenland is supposed to reach 932 mbs late Friday, making it one of the strongest lows in many years in the North Atlantic. This low has most of the energy left over from Tuesday's tornado outbreak in the southern U.S.

Now the 24h forecast map shows this low at 929 mbs.

As for the lowest ever, I believe that was around 913 mbs, for the N Atlantic, and of course a little under 890 mbs for hurricanes. So this one is getting down there.

It's a bit windy here this morning - mean speeds of 44mph, gusting 52mph and the Police have closed the Braigh, a causeway which connects where Cookie and I live to the main island. Normally this is closed for a couple of hours near to high water because, with a southerly wind, wives are likely to thow stones and bolders onto the road.
