asteroid for mars?

Recommended Posts

hi Hanne

dunno mate probaly so if you,ve got the right gear etc

last i heard over on the popastro forums present calcs gives it a miss by about 21000Km,but hey ya never know

talking of which grabbed this from accuweather

The asteroid headed for Mars has been big news recently. Did you know that another asteroid, dubbed 2007 TU24, will make a "close" pass to Earth the day before 2007 WD5 is predicted to either pass near or strike Mars? No need to worry, TU24 isn't on a collision course with Earth, but the asteroid will be close enough for some photo opportunities as it passes through the constellation Cassiopeia at around magnitude 10. TU24 is one of the "PHA's" (Potentially Hazardous Asteroids"), of which there are currently more than 900. On January 29th, TU24 will come about 1.4 Lunar distances from Earth. A lunar distance is just how it sounds, its the distance between the earth and the moon (238,866.78 miles). Multiply that by 1.4 to figure out how far TU24 will be from us on January 29th.

this a doozy of a site one of my favs
