Just to add Pressure here in the North East has now fallen to 1017.2hpa was 1028 at 1830 last night, wind has increased throughout the night , however , it is still rather mild for now , temp is currently 10.6c , however the Wind chill is down to 7.2c

Looks to me as though this feature is very energetic and will create very strong wind gusts across much of Scotland and northern England as well as NI and Donegal, when it moves through Thursday morning. The upper support is very strong and should mix down to the surface readily, so for Cookie I would say watch out for 80 mph gusts in the Isles, stronger in some exposed areas, and for northeast England, don't be surprised if the wind briefly reaches 60 mph and then keeps returning to the 30-50 mph range as the air mass will be very unstable with the low freezing levels over warm ground.

Offshore and towards Holland and Denmark, winds could easily top 100 mph and there could be a storm surge event along that side of the North Sea. Minor coastal damage for the English side of the North Sea mainly due to less risky wind direction parallel to the coast.

Next main stage for the moon phase should be the first quarter on the 17th , again looking at the charts they are currently suggesting another cool period just before , this happened last month and the month before,

The leading edge of the NW gale force winds now just approaching Hebrides, having gone through K5 between 04 and 05 GMT, wind at K5 swung around to NW 36 knots. If Cookie is looking in, the very strong winds are going to hit around 0630, I think. Rest of northern Scotland, 0700-0800. There's a thundery looking front ahead of this on radar, that's already halfway through Scotland now. But winds behind that just stay WSW until the second feature arrives.

Evening everyone

Well what a day its been today (as expected) , strongest wind gust i recorded here in Newcastle was a mere 29.9mph at 1225pm this afternoon, However saying this, when i was doing my deliveries around Lynmouth and New Biggin today the winds were that strong it was unreal, nearly caused an acsident , wind took my van from one side of the road and into on coming traffic , luckilly enough everyone saw what was happening and moved over, other wise it would have been nasty, perosnally i reckon gusts of 40mph prob more down that side of the north est coast today ,{typical i left my anometer at home , thought i put it in my bag ,

Morning everyone

Well the New Moon this month certainly saw a bit of activity for most parts of the UK , New moon was at 2303hrs last night, and at 0429hrs this morning the rain started, and since 0429hrs we have had around 4.0mm

here is a breakdown of the rainfall so far this morning

0429= 0.5MM

0429- 0431= 0.5MM

0431- 0453= 0.5MM

0453- 0652= 0.5MM

0652- 0713= 0.5MM

0713- 0745= 0.5MM

0745- 0756= 0.5MM

0756- 0850= 0.5MM

Here is a breakdown for the weather conditions since midnight

0000hrs 0300hrs DRY

Pressure at midnight started at 1016.3hpa, however in this period the pressure fell slightly by -0. 6mb, pressure reading at 0259 was 1015.7hpa. This period has also been relatively dry with a max breeze of 15.2mph approaching from the West. Dew point has been steady at 7.1c. Temperature at midnight was 9.4c. However this did rise to 10.7c at 0259hrs. Wind chill was reading 6.1c, temperature rise of 1. 3c in 3 hours

Pressure fall – 0.6mb in 3 hours

0300- 0600hrs MODERATE RAIN= 2.5MM

1.5mm rain between 0300 and 0600hrs

Pressure at 0300 was reading 1015.3hpa,

Pressure at 0559 was reading 1017.6hpa

So a rise in pressure of +1.3mb,

With a 9.3mph westerly breeze, again this period has seen the breeze approach from a westerly or WNW direction.

Temperature at 0300hrs was reading 10.7c, however this fell back down to 9.0c at 0559hrs. Temperature at 0559hrs was reading 9.0c so in this period a fall of -1. 7c

Rain moved in 0420hrs with 0.5mm being recorded at 0429hrs and at 0431hrs another 05mm had fallen, bringing the total so far for the month to 6.7mm

0600- 0900hrs MODERATE RAIN = 2.5mm

Temperature at 0600 was reading 8.9c

Pressure at 0600hrs was reading 1017.6hpa, however at 0622hrs pressure rose by 1mb in just 22 minutes Pressure at 0622 was reading 1018.6hpa. Temperature has now dropped back down to 8.5c at 0639hrs

At 0737hrs the temperature dropped to 8.2c with the pressure being on 1018.3hpa. Pressure at 0859 1018.1hpa,

0900- 1200 {midday}

Pressure at 0900 was reading 1018.1hpa with the temperature reading 8.0c so the temp has fallen by 0.9c within the last 3 hours

Pressure has risen by 0.5mb within the last 3 hours that’s a rise of +1.8mb in the Last 9 hours. Breeze switched from a westerly breeze at 0919hrs to a WSW breeze at 0920hrs, Pressure fell again at 0920 to 1017.8hpa, 0938hrs breeze switched to a NW with the pressure rising again to 1018.0hpa; however this has fallen again to 1017.6hpa since Pressure reading at 1159 was 1016.5hpa so that’s another fall of -1.6mb within the last 3 hours. So since Midnight a pressure overall has fallen by just 0.2mb in the first 12 hours of the day, which is suggesting its pretty much stable, However since 0900 a further 2.0mm of rain has fallen, so this morning between 0429hrs and 1006hrs a total of 6.0mm of rain has fallen. Temperature at 1159 was 8.4c, so within the last 3 hours the temperature has risen by just 0.4c; current temp at 1211hrs is 8.5c with the pressure reading 1016.0hpa

Pressure trend today so far= -3mb up to 1630

Pressure fall last 3 hours= -1.6mb

Temp trend last 3 hours= + 0.4c

Rainfall last 3 hours= 2.0mm

Total rainfall for today 0400- 1006= 6.0mm

NOON TO 1500HRS

Pressure at midday was 1016.4hpa, however this has started to fall in this period , now at 1454hrs pressure is reading 1014.1hpa

Pressure fall of = 2.3mb in just 3hrs

Temperature has risen this afternoon to 11.2c which was the Max temp received today at 1449hrs, this never lasted long and the temperature started to fall again

Evening everyone

!7th cold period which i have been watching for some time now , looks as though its still ON, FIRST QUARTER moon phase, around this moon phase i have noticed that we generally receive a cold period, Last month and the month before saw cold periods around the same moon phase stage, also i have mentioned before that on the 19th for the last 3 years we have had snowfall and it looks like the same again,

Dew point looks to be quite low too

It also looks as though there could be a NNW wind , so it will feel alot colder than the temp suggests

Im still doing a lot of research into this , and as you can see im also gathering my own weather data, around each moon phase. at the moment unfortunately i CANNOT answer your question , however one day i will be able too , when i dont know , However i have found this web site which might interest you, there is a piece in their by Mr Ken Ring , I know alot of people will disagree with what he says , but personally i do like his methods.

In the last couple of months i have used the moon phases {and the charts on NW XTRA} to see if there is any colleration, Last month i mentioned there would be strong winds, ,i have also mentioned about cold periods between the New moon and First quarter , and that has also shown on the charts and models . Again unfortunately i cannot predict where ,in the UK these events happen {that will be my next step} I am NOT a WEATHER FORECASTER, I JUST LOVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE WEATHER , and im still learning how to read some of the models ,

I will give you a date to look out for , DECEMBER 17TH FIRST QUARTER moon phase , I expect to see a cold period either side of this date.,

With my records i have aquired, around the first quarters especially during late Autumn and winter , there always seems to be a cold period

From data i have aquired , i can see the cold snap developing around the 21st Nov< phase of the moon should be Gibbous Crescent, and from my records i have noticed it usually gets very cold 2 days before the Full Moon {24th Nov) However just after the Full moon on the 25th, it should turn Mild again
