In the Mail on Sunday was an article about a man who has created a device which makes makes more energy than it takes to produce the energy, IYKWIM.

Scientists are baffled because it goes against all known laws of physics.

I found it interesting from at least two points of view

1) an excellent potential source of renewable and non-polluting energy

2) an excellent indicator that we do not necessarily "know" all laws of physics

I will see if I can dig the article out. Should have done it already, I suppose B) .

Here it is:

Would be great if it really works, but there have been countless other claims in the past, which have come to nothing, and at the risk of seeming cynical, if it really did what it said, I'm sure it would have got further than the Daily Mail.

Oh, not another one of those things. This particular one is hardly anything new, its just the same old same old "over-unity" machine. They don't work, we should be looking at things that might work like wind power, solar power, nuclear fusion instead for future energy sources, not stuff like this.

If this particular machine takes the world by storm and revolutionises the planet, then I'll admit I'm wrong. Until then, me no believe it.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
