I think PP meant it had 0 bids, so you can't be bidding!! Theyre ok, but not really weather stations, just giving temp and humidity readings plus air pressure, so depends what you're looking for..

Ah.. you're watching it. I see..

As Paul points out it's very limited.

For the money, it's a bargain though...

It depends on what you want to do with it. If it's only temperature, pressure and humidity that you want to monitor then it's fine. Personally, I'd save my pennies and buy a weather station. There is a link on the last page for a decent low cost station.

Yep. That's the one.

The sofware that comes with it allows you to create logs and graphs and allows you to upload the data as a graphic.

Cheers PP, I'll get that tomorrow.

Hi,

I could be wrong but as it does not have a wind vane and rain gauge I would not bid too much for it

By the looks of it John, I'll give it a miss & go with PP's option.

Hi TONA,

Its a hard call.

I paid for a Davis Vantage Pro 3 years ago and have not regretted it one bit.

However needs must and budget often dictates.

I still have my barometre from 30 years ago and inside/outside thermometre from the same time and use them a lot.

My own view is that if you are to take major step forward is to get a station that you can upload to your own weather site.

Investigate and buy what is within your budget.

That's why I suggested that particular station John. Cheap and cheerful and weather display compatible without much faffing around.

Obviously, if he can afford to go down the line of davis equipment, then he should.

This is the one that I opted for.. Nice bit of kit..

That sounds one bit of nice kit pottyproof.

A good option.

I don't know Pennine but it would be interesting to see temperature differance between our locations as your up the road and i'm only 170m up.

Exactly mate, I think I really need to get one in time for the Autumn gales, cos I'd love to know just how windy it gets up here when its really blowing. Re. temps, the car regularly shows a 3 degrees drop between Slaithwaite and Scape on colder winter days, and whilst I know they're not the most reliable, judging by the difference in settling snow it must be something like that.

One thing you need to bear in mind if you want decent wind measurements is that the cheaper units only usually sample the wind speed every 30 seconds or something along those lines, this means you're often going to be missing out on gusts etc. The more expensive units will sample it far more often - so as with most things, you will get what you pay for.

They seem to be based on the La Crosse stations. Maybe they are Chinese copies of sorts? Seem to have the right gear.

I cant find any detail as to the wind speed resolution anywhere but the rain resolution is good.. :)

1C / 100m is a good rule of thumb. I'm surprised you see a drop of three, though there might be a bit of a UHI effect I suppose in addition to the altitude change. I often see a drop of 2C climbing out of the valley to my hillside location, and on a few really good days it's the difference between rain and snow - the ough less frequently than used to be the case.
