12z has NI blown away:

Friday night now too.

That looks a bit more serious than the little breeze the other day Mondy.

Aye, been watching the devlopment since KW mentioned it yesterday somewhere. Been brought forward at least 6 hours by the 12z run to Friday evening.

If it comes off, people will be taken by surprise, especially since it reached over 20c here today, with blue skies :whistling:

Evening all.

having watched this for a little while and the GFS has been slowly moving it forward since, so it wouldn't surprise me if it turned up Friday morning.

Think if its as strong as forecast Most of the UK as far down as Bristol are going to get a hammering, but as the low is proged to move NE the only area to escape will be the SE. think winds could get as high as 75mph+ in the west if the isobars are right, and there looks to be a healthy number of cold & occluded fronts so plenty of rain too.

Interestingly the MetO have the centre of the low a little further north than the GFS but both have the centre as 970mb so definitely something to watch.

System for Fri evening/sat morning still showing to be nasty looking.

I'm not clued up enough on what's going on out there in the Atlantic at the moment, but looking at the models, fax charts, sat images etc something is happening and looks to develop quite potently.

A Spring storm, perhaps?

Hi Mondy yes did notice this yesterday.

A May storm for the North perhaps not something we see usually with gales/severe gales for the NW.

Fresh or strong winds further south which is strong enough this time of year.

Certainly looking like a windy old end to the week, but nothing too extreme. Looking at the charts/date avaiable, I wouldn't be surprised to see some gusts of 50-60MPH in exposed parts of western Scotland and Northern Ireland, which would be unusual certainly for the mid-end of May.

I think the fact that many trees are in 'full sail' would mean that you didn't need a full blown gale for it to cause disruption. Probably a heck of a time to be sat on a nest/rearing young too!!!
