It's working again now. 2200z values last night:

    Solar flux 89.4 (1au 86.5)

WWV reporting 86, which will be the 2000z value.

Just a few pics from early this morning at West Sands, St. Andrews  First one was 100iso eq @ f1.8 and 10 sec exposure, strong moonlight about midnight with the faintest of hint of an aurora.

More shots here from Scotland last night. Fingers crossed again tonight as there is another predicted Kp7 ☺

From Salon on the Isle Of Rum & The Isle Of Lewis tonight. Credit; Martin Keivers and Emma Mitchell.

AURORA SURPRISE: There were no geomagnetic storms on Dec. 26th. So where did these auroras come from? "Last night, the Northern Lights made a remarkable appearance over Utsjoki in the far north of Finland," reports Rayann Elzein, who photographed the display in temperatures that plunged to -36 😄

So we end on 208 albeit that may be knocked down a bit. Top 20 still though.

Updated the Cycle 25 Progress thread here :

Suspect we will have a couple of quieter weeks with sfi dropping back into the 70s and perhaps a few spotless days once the current regions disappear west. No sign of any renewed activity coming over the eastern limb as yet.

Cold waves hitting Europe continue to threaten growers, is there a link to climate change?

Much of Europe, not just the UK, has experienced unseasonably cold weather since the Easter Weekend. A plunge of cold arctic air brought by northerly winds early last week brought several nights of frost and even snow across large swathes of Europe, followed by another wave of cold arctic air spreads across much of Europe this week. The frosts causing damage to new growth in vineyards and orchardsa0spurred on by a late March heatwave, the vineyards of France werea0particularly badly affected.

High pressure rules, but still chilly out the sun & watch out for a few showers

High pressure in charge for the rest of the week but the airmass will be chilly, so feeling nippy out of the sun. Not entirely dry either, with scattered showers around the next few days, especially in the west. Read the full update here
