Jan Janssens who maintains the SIDC Spotless Days page, has updated the SC24 Tracking page at his personal Solar website. There are lots of interesting graphics:

The green line is the current SSN progress. Keep in mind that it is a 13-month smoothed mean so the last value shown is for Jan 2019. If the current very low activity continues, we should expect the line to drop further.

For Q3 so far and assuming today is blank then 58 of 62 days will have been blank. A 93% rate. We would be looking at a final figure of 280 if that maintained.

The target for this stretch is 36.

Sacha Layos sends this picture from Fairbanks, Alaska. "Much to might delight, the auroras started as soon as the sun went down on Aug. 31st--a sight for sore eyes!" she says. "This was our first show of the season, and it did not disappoint!"

Göran Strand sends this picture from Östersund, Sweden. "On Sept. 1st, I got to see my first Northern Lights of the season," he says. "The geomagnetic activity is still very good so if you have clear skies tonight, head out and look to the North!"

THE LABOUR DAY STORM OF 2019: It happened just as predicted. On August 31st, a stream of solar wind hit Earth's magnetic field, sparking the strongest geomagnetic storm of 2019. Episodes of G2-class storming ignited bright auroras over both poles visible even in Arctic twilight. Dmitry Rak photographed the display from  the Barents Sea coast near Teriberka, Russia:

AURORAS SIGNAL THE APPROACH OF FALL: Northern autumn is coming. We know this because auroras are appearing for no special reason. "I didn't expect to see anything last night," reports Yuichi Takasaka of Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories of Canada . "The forecast called for no geomagnetic storms." Yet the auroras were  there anyway:

That flux is starting to kick up a tad!

Yes, I wonder if we are entering the next solar cycle now and minimum has passed?
