I think it will just perpetuate a meridonal flow meaning it depends on exactly where the flow set up as to whether we experience northerly or southerly sourced airmass...

Yeah, seen that there will be a but of variation, I think the values are corrected based upon distance the earth is from the sun at any given point in the rotation around the sun, as the orbit isn't perfectly circular. It would be good to see it wane a bit more again though!

I agree, we could also do  with a very long spotless stretch too

A WILD DISPLAY OF AIRGLOW: Last week on May 30th, MaryBeth Kiczenski of Munising, Michigan, drove to the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in search of auroras. A stream of solar wind was buffeting Earth's magnetic field, and Northern Lights were a definite possibility. Instead of auroras, however, "I saw some pretty wild airglow!" she says.

The adjusted solar flux is actually about 72 as we approach aphelion (start of July). This is because of 2 sizeable (but spotless) active regions rotating onto the east limb.

It will be interesting to see what happens over the next month or two, if it drops off again or if it peps up a bit
