I'm sure today should be 11 day's blank, but Spaceweather is still showing 10 for today.

Well we got to 14 day's blank before a tiny sunspot emerged.

Solarham.net and SILSO have both got today's sunspot count as zero. Solarham.net has not mentioned the emerging sunspot.

SOLAR WIND SPARKS ARCTIC AURORAS: Earth is entering a stream of solar wind currently blowing faster than 500 km/s. First contact with the gaseous material during the late hours of Jan. 23rd produced an outburst of green auroras around the Arctic Circle. Markus Varik sends this picture from Tromsø, Norway.

A SPRAY OF PINK AURORAS: A stream of high-speed solar wind is buffeting Earth's magnetic field. Last night, it produced a G1-class geomagnetic storm and a spray of pink auroras over Tromsø, Norway. "Oh yeah!" says Markus Varik, who photographed the display.

AURORAS DANCE OVER THE ISLAND OF POLAR BEARS: Last night, the sky above Svalbard, Norway, filled with auroras. Purple and green sheets of light swirled over the snowy landscape--"so bright that we could see them against the glow of the sun hidden just below the horizon," says Sophie Cordon, who photographed the display.

Bugger!

Over last low solar the MetO put out a statement on the impacts of low solar on HP in the northern Atlantic. As such I had held out a hope that this low solar might be primed to give us some of what we saw last low solar esp. the 09/10 winter....... now I find this;

https://www.nature.com/articles/s41561-018-0293-3

telling me that any 'link' was merely a 'mirage' in the data and so my last,best hope now lies dashed !!!

Unlucky for you, but most people can only read the summary, which merely suggests "might". Although technically this is the wrong thread anyway lol
