Lovely sunny but breezy day today on the slopes.

looks to me like an early spring here in Alberta..i have never seen such a warm start to March in my time here..March is usually cold and snowy..looks staying dry mild for the next 10 days too

I'm looking forward to seeing what the thunderstorms here are like, they should be fairly decent from what I have heard and can work out.

way bigger and way more frequent than the UK..t-storm season runs from end of May to early mid August..peak is Mid June to Mid end July..may get a few tornadoes thrown in for good measure

Another decent flip-flop coming over the weekend after a steadily warming week with loads of sunshine:

I'm not convinced these will be in chronological order:

Driving way too fast for the road conditions! Yet another example of truckers knowing best and driving like lunatics, the driver with the dash cam footage is just as bad. I hope they all got charged with dangerous driving.

Having spent winter in Canada it's very safe to say that North Americans do not cope better in snowy conditions, if there is snow falling or blowing it is always absolute chaos. There was a 50-70 vehicle pileup east of us just a few weeks ago:

brooks-highway.jpg
WWW.CBC.CA

The westbound lane of a stretch of the Trans-Canada Highway between Medicine Hat and Calgary has been shut down by a pileup of as many as 70 vehicles...

We have had a dusting today and the road to my step-daughter's school was carnage. Multiple cars in the ditches and just epically bad driving all round, my pic is unclear:

20210422_082114.thumb.jpg.6ce89ca5ed37b2abe69177b553413855.jpg

Cute snowflakes though:

20210422_120533.thumb.jpg.b63de54b53865f64b9999a3eafcb0c8e.jpg

i have been saying this for over 10 years about snow and driving chaos here..but it falls on deaf ears to those back home..who always use Canada as an example of showing the UK how to cope with snow and driving in the winter..clearing roads etc

Are you Scotland in disguise? It's a manky mess of wind and rain and sleet.

It is so bad that I wore my jacket for the 3rd time since arriving in Canada:

Oh dear yes, that does look rather familiar..  little patches of melting hail and puddles. Oh for a few warm sunny days.

its a dry heat so it can be 34c but feel like 30c ..not like the UK where 34c feels like 40c..its usually pretty breezy in Alberta when it gets hot..i lived in Calgary 2012-14 the summer of 2012 was i think the 2nd hottest on record for the city ...to me it didnt feel as hot as a hot summer back home

600dm ridge is setting up over the SW corner of the USA, which is going to produce some record breaking heat.

Look at this forecast for Needles. Potentially the earliest 50c plus outside Death Valley for 103 years. Ridiculously hot.
