We're relatively mild here and it was -26C when I went to the shops earlier. Blazing sunshine and diamond dust in the air so everything is sparkling.

The reds have finally caught up with us...this week is gonna get cold.

Minus 32 this morning too. The snows back this evening though and warmed up to a mild minus 26 atm.

I think it’s acceptable in Alberta to say it’s cold when it’s in the minus 30’s.

But I agree , and I’m always met with strange looks from family, when I say it can be nice in the sun in the minus 20’s.

I'm already turning into one of these people who will shake my head and roll my eyes when someone in the UK says it's cold at -10C. It's much warmer here today at -18C and genuinely, you can feel the difference...jeans and a hoodie weather for going out and about. I may crack out the gloves and 2nd hoodie for the dog walk later though.

This wee corner almost always has its own wee snowdrift building up even when it's not snowing much:

20210212_114232.thumb.jpg.e58fd84cd387eaff968c5e2b8826b384.jpg20210212_114248.thumb.jpg.062f2ed29fcb628c9f2a44ca2760f1b6.jpg

I find drifting snow very mesmerising which maybe isn't the best when there's thin wafts of snow blowing across the roads on a regular basis

Lol you’re a true Canuck now

Definitely warmer by day. A balmy -14oC though there’s warnings out for -40’s wind chill for tonight and tomorrow night then warming up Monday, possibly close to freezing by the end of the week - it’ll feel almost spring like - get the shorts out.

You've been putting me to shame with the pics so I’ll upload this one. Always nice to see a sun halo over the mountains.

@Coopsy I am always snap happy. I take a ridiculous amount of random pics and post a few of them on here or Facebook, I get a lot of comments about the snowy pics.

I even take pics at night while I wait for the dog to empty himself:

20210212_185837.thumb.jpg.028fc4919e37771b3f92d87f604aea71.jpg20210212_190035.thumb.jpg.e3460750c7630adf686c2ecc3be6f5fa.jpg

I’m not surprised about the snowy pics - there’s something quite emotive about them. For me especially the nighttime snow pics. I think it’s the juxtaposition of the white and black. I’m prone to taking many random snowy pics too...

After today it does look warmer here, perhaps even low single digits later this week. Having said that we may see some snow tomorrow night so winter isn't going too far away just yet.

Class pics.
Do you like the climate over there?

If I had to leave Scotland (I won’t, my sister lives in Australia - just not for me) then Canada would probably be top on my list. Certainly want to visit! My friends rate it highly

I've loved the climate here so far, even the mild weeks in January were great as it was so sunny every day. Once winter finally leaves in a couple of months I've got a relatively hot summer with thunderstorms to look forward to. My ideal climate is basically this climate.

ask again in 11 years..thats how long i have been here..first winter was fun and a great experience..now they just grate on me big time..winter starts far too early and finishes way too late..summers and autumn i like but they are too short..spring is very hit and miss..talking of which i have seen a few years where spring and autumn do not appear at all ..we can go from winter str8 into summer and vice versa summer str8 into winter..happened in 2012 and 2018

Hovering around freezing today. Almost tropical. Wet roads and slow melt going on in the sun. It definitely feels busier in town - with certain restrictions being lifted it certainly makes a difference to towns that rely on the domestic tourist dollar like Canmore and Banff.

A pic from our friends in Northern Indiana where my daughter stayed until Covid forced her home last year. Just a few days ago here we had the same depth of snow as them at around 35cms. Since then though they had the big storm which brought low temperatures and another foot of snow while ours all melted bar the remnants of a pile or two.

I had a look at Google Maps to see if this was close to me and then realised that I live a similar distance from Denver as Glasgow is to Switzerland

Looks like the place to be huge amounts likely considering that's inches not cm
