Massive heat dome under strong high pressure ridge is building in the SW corner of the USA....highs approaching or at 50c by early next week!

Phoenix could break its all-time heat record on Tuesday 120f (48.8c) is forecast at the moment the record is 122f (50c)

Just to add to how potentially record breaking and unusual this heat wave in the SW USA is.....Phoenix has only recorded 120f on three days since 1895! That's a good 45,000 days! One every 15,000 days, or once every 41 years. Goes to show this isn't an ordinary hot spell, even for these scorched parts of the world.

Very worrying times for people in Texas, in a massive area including the Houston metro. I think we are going to be seeing some very sad news stories in a few days time with over 20 inches of rain being dumped. Stay safe people of Texas, heed the warnings, and get out while you can.
