BBC Weather

@bbcweather

0600GMT report from Boston Logan Airport (USA) shows a gust of 97mph. With snow & a temp of -8C, you wouldn't want to feel the wind chill

Try to imagine what the drifts will be like considering up to three feet of level snow is being forecast.

Does anyone know what happened to the blog on wunderground? It appears to have been taken down.

Hamden, CT now leading with 26 inches at 0600Z - that's 65cm! Posted ImagePosted Image

Hamden is now at 34" according to the US NWS, and they are still due a fair bit more. Wonder if they will make 4 foot?

This really is amazing viewing for snow fans and something I would love to experience!

I visit America a lot but only ever states that receive no snow :(. Some of the drifts in this storm will be biblical with gusts to 97mph and snowfall rates of upto 6 inches per hour.

Can we watch the US weather channel anywhere on the net? I'm glued to that when I'm in the states and their severe weather coverage is second to none.

Around 190,000 people without power in Rhode Island alone! It'll be days before some of them get their electricity back.

Some of the live footage from the centre of Providence is surreal. 16 inches of snow in downtown Providence!!!

Reports coming in on the news now that only 1 fatality in upstate new York. Scenes are of much improved conditions but average snowfall is just over 2 feet but some hit 3 feet and more (maybe sea enhanced, local topography enhanced snow etc)

Watching it live early this morning was quite something. I've been used to Canadian winters but this was something special

Bit jealous. Would love to see a big snow storm like this here. I'm so bored of the usual dustings of snow we get. I did get 6 inches a couple of weeks ago but most of that was gone the next day.
