interesting to see that metcheck and netweather both go for the storms beginning tonight, but metcheck see them starting in the SW, whereas netweather see them starting in Northeast England and E. Anglia.

That's a fair old distance apart; two very separate areas of the country. Id love to see the forecasting logic behind each.

I think it illustrates the difficulties all forecasters are facing in this current situation. It is very difficult to say exactly where convective activity will start. It also comes back to the point I discussed with John yesterday about where forecasters put the trough lines on weather maps. For two experienced forecast agencies to go for two very different areas of the country implies, for me, there's a fair bit of pin-sticking going on!

I think you're possibly mis interpreting what the homepage is saying tbh :rolleyes: The mention of storms in the northeast is for this afternoon, with the risk then out to the southwest overnight.
