Snow/wintry Precipitation Reports 3rd March 2006

Heavyish snow for about 30 mins around 10.30 this morning, leaving about 5mm on the grass . The clouds approaching from the north across the bay are dark and look full of snow, so fingers crossed theres more to come B)

Kind of begs the question what someone from Surrey is doing in Wibsey Garden Suburb (note for locals, the "Garden Suburb" is oft excluded from the name on signs in the area, maps, and all other offical records.

However, even in the glorious city centre it is snowing heavily: on Atmos's patent scale it is, unbelievably, up at about 50. Very large flakes coming down thick and fast, and starting to settle on the pavements after only 5 minutes.

Have to say, this wasn't forecast, but looking at radar there's a definite convergence across the central belt.

Heavy Snow showers on and off during the night, and after a brief pause at breakfast time we are now off again with what looks like a huge row of Cumulo Nimbus rolling down off the Atlantic to the North.

Heavy snow shower around the Leeds University area, with a thin covering accumulating on some surfaces for a time away from the immediate city centre. Melting now in a brighter interval, but there's more to come by the looks of the grey clouds to the W and NW.

I expected a bit of convection in the area, but to be truthful, today has produced a lot more than I expected.

Around a 2 hour period of moderate snow today in Oare, Kent. Nothing settled but looked very nice.
