First day of spring and it's first day of real winter conditions here. Been snowing pretty steadily since about 08:00, now about 8cm lying. Not much happening here today, schools closed and roads difficult even at low level.

Just had an hour and a half of non stop snow in Aberdeen. There is now 15 CM/6 Inches lying on the ground. And that is in the city, can only guess what it ill be in outlying areas.

Same down here Magpie, almost whiteout conditions. Every surface where the snow had melted is covered again. The torrential shower than just went through dropped a load of soft hail which has topped everything up to 4.5in. It's really messy out there, with all this soft hail falling into slushy puddles and re-settling on the roads... should be trecherous tonight! :)

Hi All

There are some very dry snow flurries blowing around the London Bridge area when I went out 5 mins ago...and it is not melting when it hits the ground, where is a Thames streamer when you need one...

Cheers

Lucky so and so Dee :) . We have had more sun than snow this morning, although we have just had another rather heavy snow shower but it didn't settle as the ground is too wet :)

it's absolutely throwing it down out there, as no.5 snow shower moves through to leave everything white again :)

temp was 5.7*c but now it's plunged to 3.1*c. the shower is heading southwards

The showers seem to be building up again. Had a fairly hefty one come through about twenty minutes ago and here comes another. They are starting to lie but there is a good thaw on nonetheless. Temp is only sitting at 2C. :)

this sounds good magpie, cus i am probs around 20 miles south of u, it could be near me soon

:):):)

Yup, it's heading south towards your way. Extremely heavy snow again now.

Look at radar: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/europe/uk/radar/

That line of snow is going right over me. Man I'm lucky for snow this time. Makes a nice change.

More heavy snow showers this morning on the south side of the Moray Firth measured 25cm on the grass to south of house sheltered from wind, drifts of 1metre next to N facing walls . Wonder if this type of weather will repeat through March as frequency of N and E winds is at its highest in the spring Very stormy looking at times with black clouds to north bringing curtains of snowfall across the firth every 20 to 30 mins.

After overnight snow of around 3 inches (most of it now thawed by sunshine) we are now having flurries of snow which are fairly light but sometimes heavier with hail

:) seems like the southwest is missing the real fun today. South somerset has seen some hail showers and a very light covering this morning. Just started again - Hail of course. Some big grey clouds passing over now giving another very light scatter. Looks like more to come later. :)

First brief shower of soft hail and fine snow lasted 10minutes not settling though, another beefy looking shower to my north.

The showers (2) here were heavier yesterday.Temp now 3.0C dewpoint -5.2C! Shows how dry the air is!
