Been snowing here for about 3 hours, although it is not very light and the flakes small.......nevertheless, have about 1-1.5cm of lying snow, even a light covering on certain roads. Temperature now 0.7C.

Snowed heavy in chatham earlier and settled on the roads and grass quite well. Enough to cause localised road problems as it's quite hilly

Snowing lightly in Rushden since about 7.30pm with the odd moderate burst thrown in. Currently 1C. Tries to stick in the slightly heavier bursts.

Light snow showers since 5:30pm. Not settling but just wonderful to see my first snow of the winter.

Time now 9:30pm and paths starting to feel slippery as temp now down to 0.5C and quite a windchill.

Really surprised to see it snow as all that was forecast for the coast here was rain or sleet at best.

Acccording to the NW radar there is wedge of sleet / rain running through the midlands hence the sleet / rain in Shropshire.

Light intermittent snow between 5.30 & 7.30 p.m. while at work in Croydon.

Wasn`t heavy enough to settle, mind you it did well to make it to ground level & get through the warmer layers of central Croydons` microclimate.

Regards,

Tom.

My Atari can't handle the falling snow and the music. This must be for everyone in the south east with a modern computer :(

On driving from SW of Maidstone (35m asl) to Herne Bay yesterday leaving just before 6PM temps were 0C and moderate snow was falling and beginning to settle. On reaching the M20 this turned sleety/drizzly for a short period but on climbing Detling Hill (200m asl) in the North Downs the temp fell to -1C and all precip was snow. Conditions were quite bad and it didnt surprise me to find on my return journey (around 10pm) the A249 Detling Hill road had been closed.

Temps rose to 0C on the M2 with snow showers. At Herne Bay on the coast temps were 1C and there was no lying snow. However on returning home I diverted towards Canterbury where on the hill a few miles to the east of the city there was quite a decent accumulation of lying snow. As I filled my car up, in the icy wind it felt quite bitter.

This morning there is a general but thin covering here in Maidstone as I write this but I suspect it will disappear quickly
