another 1cm arrived whilst driving around most of Yorkshire today, well up to Scarborough. The A64 was quite interesting at times in 'white' out conditions. I've never seen so many snowplows, grit spreaders on one section of road. most not ploughing but 2 were in the outside lane on one stretch. A real winter wonderland in the Wolds area, even here its the snowiest I've seen it in a long time, 3cm in the garden.

This happened about 5 minutes ago,I was driving on the Western Bypass which is about 4 miles from the centre of Newcastle,it was snowing moderately at the time but not lying on the road,I was overtaken by a very large truck and as he passed what I thought was heavy spray suddenly occured,as it passed I realised it was in fact very very heavy snow pellets and snow, after the truck was past the road was totally white and for the next mile the snow remained heavy,3 miles later only the odd flurry and no fresh snow was observed.

Sounds pretty crazy on the Old Slug Road, Jamie. Only had 1 hail/snow grain (don't know the difference) shower in Aberdeen which has slowly thawed except on the grass.

As per usual, an easterly is rubbish for Aberdeen.

its just a joke, there is nothing in stonehaven but ice then you drive 5 miles in land and the roads are unrecognisable...vry picturesque though!!

Two very light snow showers today, with small flakes. Amounted to nothing, there were just odd flakes blowing around in the slight wind.

Currently overcast here and -1.3C

Good timing! Very light snow now in Aberdeen sticking to all surfaces as the thawed hail showers of earlier has now frozen hard - temperature has dropped significantly since mid afternoon. To cold for hail now, hence the 'proper' snow.

Well, looked out the window about half hour ago and it was chucking it down, looks like we have had another 2-3cm, which has layed nicely on what we had and patched up the bare patches!!!! Lovely stuff!!!

Funny cos the beeb said we would get nothing tonight, although the met office did have a warning out (mind you when haven't they!)

It`s been snowing heavily here for 15mins now and there appears no let up or breaks in the clouds. Strange enough that the wind direction has reversed bringing more heavy showers.

Thanks everyone for these reports of your cold outbreak. Great stuff for this aussie melting in temps above 30C at the moment. Kent seems to be getting just about the best falls?

Blizz - my aussie town gets about three or four snowfalls a year.

Very substantial snowfall in Norwich on Thursday evening and overnight, easily matching the worst of what we had in Feb/Mar 2005
