Does anyone else have more daisies than grass on their lawns?

Dad's just mown the daisies :( I estimate that on a 5 metre square lawn there were 500 daisies all taller than any blade of grass. I give it until Saturday and they'll be back!!

You could make a very big daisy chain, if your tempted to sit by a riverside singing songs and prancing about in the fields, though that does sound rather nice :(

LOL well it would probably have been near to, if not the longest, daisy chain in history. But I can't be bothered to see if Guiness keep that sort of record :(

Not all murdered Sas, I can see 2 that escaped the mower :)

Daisies and moss in my lawn. I can live with them but Moles are the bain of my life at the moment. Tried everything except a 12 Bore but to no great avail.

Just enjoy that your garden has been accepted by nature's creatures as a place to play and have fun! What a privilege!!! :(

I like moles. I've almost got enough for a pair of moleskin trousers! :)

Seriously it's having to remove a barrow load of soil each week before I can even start to mow the lawn that bugs me. Also, I have lost some trees and shrubs because they have undermined the root systems.

The dogs have caught some but they cause more damage by digging a crater in the lawn to get at them! :(

Edit: Flagpole, my Brother is the spitting image af Jasper Carrot (and talks like him).

Seany. I cant get a dermatologist small enough to fit down the holes.

Don't know what caused it, but it was a perfect circle with no other daisies anywhere near....

And have you tried cayenne pepper sprinkled liberally down the holes....might be worth keeping the dogs clear though....

Also putting updside down bottles into the holes is supposed to cause vibrations that they hate and run away from....

Or do like my mum and dad do and mow the edges and a nice curvy path through the centre....

Looks very pretty, and you can also walk through it and enjoy it more without squishing anything....

I got a couple of those Mole Chaser things from Maplins. Poke them into the ground and they gives off low frequency vibrations.

They just party to it! :)

Most small mammals apart from the ones that breed like whatsit are having a tough time, mainly cos people keep killing them........ :)

And also cos insect numbers are down.... :)

I guess you're right Roo. :)

But we are surrounded on all sides by fields and meadows and the little blighters still choose to excavate our garden.

So you have a mole Mrs M... want any more? :)

My brother (who is a laminate floor) swears by putting sticks with broken glass stuck to it down the holes. The idea is that the mole burrows along, pricks his nose on the glass and bleeds to death. Nice idea.

I used to be really fussy and anal about my lawn, but now Mopsy and Flapjack live on it all year round, I don't fertilise it or weedkill it. There's loads of clover, millions of daisies and the odd thistle, but so what? All I do now is scarify it twie a year and not cut it too short...the Cumbrian weather does the rest.

OON. I don't care too much about the lawns perfection either having not edged it for the last 4 years. It's the fact that there is 3 tonne less soil under it now than there used to be that worries me. I fear the house might subside at this rate!
