Yesterday, I wanted to delete a post as it was a duplicate and the point raised was already answered.  There does not seem to be an option with the hide function as there was; any other way to get rid of an erroneous post?

Hi Paul!

I think I have spotted a bug on the forum?! However, I can't tell you what is causing it, but page 54 of the convective thread seems to be the culprit.

Something on that page causes the mobile skin to go a bit funny.

There seems to be an issue with embedded tweets at the moment they are not displaying correctly

Yep, it's when someone copies and pastes something with styling it can sometimes break the layout. Will see what can be done about it.

Seems fine to me, perhaps clear your browser cache

Finally sorted it discovered it was an addon I installed for Chrome which stopped showing the embedded social stuff

Quick question

When I hover my mouse over the - Posted (date) at (time) - thing at the top of posts the date always appears as date month year but when I quote posts it goes month date year is this a difference in settings somewhere what I can change or is it default since the update?

I think it's possibly controlled by the timezone or location set on your pc. It's showing as dd/mm/yy for me.

I've had a look at my settings and everything is set up the 'English way' (21/09/07) not sure what's causing it to show differently

The issue of blocked posters showing is back again. It says you have chosen not too see this post and you can see the post. Luckily not total drivel this time but again I shouldn't be seeing them.

As before, please pm me with details so I can look into this, as it's not a widespread problem at all.

Would also recommend testing without any browser addons you're running, it may be one of those is interfering with the page.

Doubt it's browser plugins as they haven't changed and it's not doing it today and it wasn't doing it day before.

There have been no changes to the forum in recent days either, I imagine if you have an ad blocker running, the fact it's trying to make changes to the way the page is drawn could cause it, for example. So if it happens again, I would recommend testing it without plugins switched on, just to rule it out.

Is it something I'm doing or am I missing something as I can't seem to see the option to edit my own posts anymore?

  • Chilly with an increasing risk of frost

Once Monday's band of rain fades, the next few days will be drier. However, it will feel cool, even cold, in the breeze or under gloomy skies, with an increasing risk of frost. Read the full update here

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming. Week Ahead: Cool but largely dry until later in the week, when low pressure returns

We keep a chilly northerly flow going through much of the coming week, especially noticeable in the east. Cloud and rain spreading south Monday, but after that, most places largely dry until later in the week, when it looks to turn more showery. Read the full update here
