Good Morning all

Well in a post last night I did say whatever any forecaster did it was likely to be wrong!

Not totally but not as accurate as I would like.

The cold front is now working through northern England and the Midlands with outbreaks of rain and sleet on and ahead of it. The snow in the south east should soon turn to rain. Snow, some of it heavy has fallen in quite a few places in eastern and southern Scotland, up to 10cm in a few places. This should die away during the morning, but further sleet or snow showers seem likely here, and in other parts of Scotland, possibly Northern Ireland as well. . A slight rise in temperature at 850mb is going to keep it as rain over much of England and Wales at low level. However, most high ground will get some snow, amounts are difficult to assess through today Later today and overnight as the winds start to pull in more generally from a north easterly direction then showers running into many eastern districts in Scotland and England will turn increasingly to snow at most levels. Perhaps some moderate falls in places. Our Alert will be updated later this morning.

White Rabbits!!! (It's the 1st of the month, and the phrase is said to bring good luck for whatever you wish for!!)

Awoke to white covering on grass and snow, looks like it was snowing last night, there is snow this morning, though turning to sleet..

Temps rising to 1.3oC, humidity 98%... Grey skies.. come on Northern Front.. move our way..

Snow on the high ground SW of Bradford (Queensbury - again!!!!), including some spots that are lower than Stratos Moor: very bizarre really, because I gather that Queensbury (about 1300' up) has fairly deep snow. Just goes to show how localised snow can be in marginal situations.

Sleet here this morning. Turned to occasional light rain now. Had a very light dusting from light snow showers yesterday evening but that had gone by this morning.
