Around 1cm on car roofs and grass, earlier. Not a lot, but better than zip.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Nothing significant overnight and a slow thaw continues.

10cm snow left from Yesterday.

3cm's overnight, but mostly melted throughout the day. Must say that I live in quite an urban area of Oldham, not far from the Town Centre. You could probably treble that for the hilly area's of Oldham i.e. Saddleworth, Diggle, Delph, Uppermill, Greenfield etc...

Well, what a disappointment.

Its been snowing for twelve hours non stop.......and we've recieved a further 3cm's of wet, wet snow. The problem has been the temperature a degree to high, and the precipitation not heavy enough.

Driving round town this morning its hard to tell the difference between yesterday evening after the day's slight thaw and now, paths and roads that had been trampled on and melted substantially haven't really re-accumulated anything substantial at all.

Undisturbed snow cover has increased by just 1cm overnight (off 12 hours light snow), out of 3cm that has fell, suggesting an ongoing thaw perhaps.

Measurements of undisturbed snow from PT's garden give an average snow depth of 16cm.

Give me heavy overnight 15 minute showers anyday.............

Prolonged snow?............pfffft!

So the figures at 9am for the last 5 days, level snow are.....

Sunday 20th......3cm

Monday 21st......12.5cm

Tuesady 22nd......9cm

Wednesday 23rd......15cm

Thursday 24th......16cm

Total fresh falls of snow measured 30cm.

Overnight we have had 7cm of fresh snow. Added to 3cm remaining from yesterday.

In the last hour the temp has risen to 0.1c - although we have continuous light snow - there is some evidence that snow on the trees etc is now starting to melt as the wind speed increases from East North East at 10 to 15kts.

Some of my kit is down at present but it looks like the humidity is high and as a result a thaw is setting in.
