Can anyone else remember when you could see icicles hanging down from guttering, off bus stops, shop signs, etc? I think the last time I saw this must have been 1987. Will it ever happen again? Will it ever snow on top of old snow? Will we have a sustained period of cold lasting more than 3 days? The answers to these questions and more will be available over the coming years!

regards, AM

To be honest I havn't seen icicles in years, next time we get some really cold weather (hahaha) I might have to artificially make one on my window sill.

Seen quite a few during this latest cold snap, including one a foot long hanging off the washing line. Also remember seeing them in March 2006, December 2000 and amazingly December 1994 (yes i know that was a really mild month, but we had a week of freezing fog just before Christmas that formed icicles). Before that Feb 1991 and Jan 1987.
