For 872 Days Leningrad was starving to death,people dieing in their homes,workplaces,offices,on the roads and streets and on the battlefield.Was over on that January 27th 1944 Due to Several Soviet offensive operations at the time which began on the January 14th 1944. On this very day the soviets pushed the germans forces 60–100 km away from leningrad which ended this bloody siege. During the siege there were.... 3,200 residential buildings, 9,000 wooden houses (burned), 840 factories and plants were destroyed in Leningrad and suburbs around the city. Over 1 million Soviet troops died in the siege of Leningrad. 642,000 Civilians died during the siege. 400,000 Civilians died during evacuations. How much German Troops died during the siege is unknown. However During Soviet Offensives German troops 140,739+ died to all causes. Now 70 years from the siege marks its 70th Anniversary.
