I had stumbled upon this just reading about tsunamis. Apparently, this tsunami was caused by a squall line that had been battering Sussex at the time. Does anyone have any more information on this or any pics of any damage?

A shiny new thread to take us into the new winter season. Lot's of potential in current model output to suggest that there are some turbulent times ahead as we enter the first week of December, with plenty more wind and rain on the cards. As usual when storms get officially named by the Met Office they'll be given their own separate thread as we've been doing over the last few weeks for Abigail, Barney & yesterdays storm Clodagh. Carry on the discussion! This is how the 12z suite currently see Saturday at the moment, the ECM is the best performing model as verification stats show time and time again (and my personal favourite) So I would normally side with it's solution, but it's quite a volatile set up and 5 days away so I don't think either model has quite nailed it yet, and no clear picture from the ensembles either, Although UKMO & ECM are very similar. I've just been looking around and some of the French forecasting sites are progging a big wind event for the end of next week in northern France - one even billing it as a second winter storm. The MO are also hinting at potentially very disturbed weather for the period. Any thoughts...

Hello everyone and welcome! As we go head first into the depths of the start of this winter there seems to be a storm on the semi-reliable (or whatever you want to call it) time-frame. At the moment the strongest winds looks like to hit Scotland and some of the western coasts of England. (According to the gfs 12z run) This is 8 days out through so however because its not in the reliable time frame just yet major changes are expected at the moment becuase i think we know what models like to do. For extreme fans this might be a good storm to check out (if it happens)

A new thread to bring us up to date and take us through Autumn moving ever closer to Winter! The first batch of wet & windy weather has already made it's presence felt over the last 24 hours, the beginning of next week is also looking very wet and very windy especially for the N&W of the UK. Discuss the potential for any stormy weather which may affect the UK. Post charts & analysis, keep us up to date with reports of whats happening in your local area and how the bad weather is affecting you. Lets keep it civil, stay on topic and enjoy! I wonder what the rest of Autumn has in store for us....

Today was quite interesting. Around 8am when I woke up there was driving drizzle up until about 9:15am. After this moved in a series of Cb clouds producing some extremely heavy hail bursts with some rather large sized hail and very qually winds. Although the wind was around 25kmph already, when these showers arrived the winds inside were in excess of 78kmph and gusts of stronger. No lightning seen or reported on the radar. Here are some photos. Comments welcome! Here an inflow tail or developing cell: A cell a few miles out over the bay: A fully developed cell over the town center:
