  1. After "hosting" an enjoyable Fantasy Competition, for the previous Ryder Cup, thought I would try my hand at another Competition, this time around. The 43rd Ryder Cup is to take place between Friday 24th and Sunday 26th September. The Event was originally to be held in 2020 but was postponed until this Year, due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. With just a Month to go to the start of the Tournament, I would now like to open a Competition Thread, The 43rd Ryder Cup, is to be held at Whistling Straits, Kohler, Wisconsin and lies on the Western shore of Lake Michigan. It's an open, rugged and windswept Golf Course, sculptured along 2 Miles of the Lake Michigan shoreline. I will use an identical Format, to the one I used in the previous Ryder Cup Competition. I will base the Competition on the "virtual" stakes format, again, with Entrants asked to predict the Result, in certain Categories. You will be asked to predict the Outright Winner [either EUROPE, U.S.A or even a DRAW]. You will also be asked to predict the Top points scorer (Overall), Top European points scorer and Top U.S.A, points scorer. As with the last Ryder Cup Competition, you will be allocated "Virtual" Stakes, which will be placed on an average of Bookmaker's Betting Odds, in those Categories, mentioned above. You will also be asked to predict the Results on Matches, on all 3 Days of the Ryder Cup, and again be allocated "Virtual" Stakes which will be placed on an average of Bookmakers Betting Odds, in those Matches. Later on Today, I will flesh out more of the Format in the Fantasy Competition, and give details on which Matches, you will be asked to predict. I will also take a look at those Players, that are likely to make the American and European Teams. I will be sending out P.M.'s to those Members who have previously entered my Fantasy Golf Competitions, with a courtesy invitation into this one. If any Member who would like to enter, please indicate your intention to do so, by posting on this Thread. Thank you. Regards, Tom.
  2. As the groups have now been drawn thought it was time to start this seasons competition following the same rules as last time “The rules will be as follows, for each match make a prediction for example Barcelona 2-3 Bayern for each correct result you will be awarded 1 point and for a correct score 2 points will be awarded, you will also be asked to predict your most likely result which I will be calling your MATCH OF THE NIGHT and if you get the correct result on this you will get 2 points and a correct score will get you 3 points please make your MATCH OF THE NIGHT prediction by putting MATCH OF THE NIGHT next to the prediction. You will also be asked to predict the outright winner of the competition and the winner of each group, each of these if correctly predicted will get 3 points.” Group A: Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, Leipzig, Club Brugge Group B: Atlético Madrid, Liverpool, Porto, AC Milan Group C Sporting CP, Borussia Dortmund, Ajax, Beşiktaş Group D Inter, Real Madrid, Shakhtar Donetsk, Sheriff Tiraspol Group E: Bayern, Barcelona, Benfica, Dynamo Kyiv Group F: Villarreal, Manchester United, Atalanta, Young Boys Group G: LOSC Lille, Sevilla, Salzburg, Wolfsburg Group H: Chelsea, Juventus, Zenit, Malmö Tuesday 14th September BSC Young Boys v Manchester United Sevilla v Red Bull Salzburg Barcelona v Bayern Munich Chelsea v Zenit St. Petersburg Dynamo Kiev v Benfica Lille v Wolfsburg Malmo FF v Juventus Villarreal v Atalanta Wednesday 15th September Besiktas v Borussia Dortmund Sheriff Tiraspol (Mol) v Shakhtar Donetsk Atletico Madrid v FC Porto Club Brugge v Paris Saint-Germain Inter Milan v Real Madrid Liverpool v AC Milan Manchester City v RB Leipzig Sporting Lisbon v Ajax Have your predictions for all the above posted by 4pm on 14th September

  10. Morning all, I am currently in the process of putting together a Fantasy Competition, for the rescheduled UEFA European 2020 Championship, The Tournament was cancelled last Year, due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. I will have my own version of VAR to help me "host" the Competition, in the form of a NAR [Netweather Assistant Referee]. My NAR will be Callum [KIRKCALDY WEATHER], who is nearing the end of his very well put together Champion's League Competition. Over the next few Days, I will flesh out the Format for the Competition. When I "hosted" Fantasy Competitions for World Cups, European Championships and Champion's League Competitions, I got Entrants to predict every Result/Correct Score. in the Group Stage of the Competition. That is probably too much to ask of prospective Entrants, so I've decided to approach the Group Stage, in a different way. I will begin with explaining the Format and Scoring System, for OUTRIGHT WINNERS and NAME THE FINALISTS. OUTRIGHT WINNERS PREDICTIONS Predict which Team you think will win the Tournament. You will be allocated a "Virtual" Stake of £5, on the Team of your choice. You will be able to place your "Virtual" Stake as a WIN Bet, or an EACH WAY Bet, the choice is yours. You will be given the Betting Odds stated below. If you think England will Win the Tournament, £5 WIN @ 5/1 will gain you £25. These Betting Odds are an approximation of Bookmaker's Odds, currently on offer for the Tournament. Should you decide to place your "Virtual" Stake on England as £2.50 EACH WAY, and England are losing Finalists, you will receive half of the Odds, for your "Virtual" Wager. E.G. - £2.50 @ half of 5/1 = £2.50 @ 5/2 = £6.25 minus £2.50 losing Win Stake, gives you a Return of £3.75. The amount of Points won, will be given on a sliding scale of Points, based on their Betting Odds, which I will make a decision on, in the next couple of Days. Please Copy/Paste your prediction, into the OUTRIGHT WINNER Box, below. Please make sure you indicate whether you want £5 WIN or £2.50 EACH WAY. OUTRIGHT WINNER TEAM ODDS England 5/1 Belgium 11/2 France 11/2 Spain 7/1 Germany 15/2 Netherlands 9/1 Portugal 10/1 Italy 12/1 Croatia 28/1 Denmark 66/1 Poland 80/1 100/1 BAR THESE TEAMS. 1/2 the Odds, 1st and 2nd. Others on request. OUTRIGHT WINNER [£5 WIN or £2.50 EACH WAY] - Please indicate which.: - Later Today, I will post up details for the next part of the Format [NAME THE FINALISTS], and selecting "GOALSCORERS", for the Tournament. Plus predicting the finishing order, in each of the 6 Groups [A,B.C.D.E and F]. Regards, Tom.
  11. I wanted to mention the success of Britain at the European Swimming Comps, and thought there was no dedicated thread, and didn't really want to open one for one post. So I opened this thread, where people can discuss "Other Sports" British Swimming has had a mixed record to say the least in recent years. in 2-12 Olympics in London, there was a poor showing with only 3 medals in the pool, and no golds. In the 2-13 World Championships, there was a poor showing with only 1 medal in the pool, and no golds. However this year saw British success at the Commonwealths in the pool and this has been carried over to the European Champs. With Britain winning 11 golds, 8 silvers and 8 bronzes, winning the overall medal table with 27 total medals. A record breaking haul, hopefully this will translate to more medals at World level. http://www.bln2014.de/competition/medal-count/?lang=en

  14. so ..... this woman is unfortunate (or fortunate) to have naturally high levels of testosterone which has arguably given her and advantage when racing against other women. she has now required to take testosterone inhibiting drugs so as to 'level the playing field'. i dont think this is right, and that semenya should be allowed to compete. surely the most successful athletes are successful because they have some physical, natural advantage?.. where will 'levelling' stop?.. i mean, people with longer legs have an advantage - by the logic employed here should they have leg reductions? , i believe that africans have a higher haemoglobin content to their blood then white europeans (told that by a professional sportsperson) - should athletes be seperated by ethnicity? are those complaining about semenya just mardy snowflakes?
  15. Thread for the Sky Bet Football league 1 and 2

Following on from the last champions league competition might as well do it again as the groups have just been drawn, following the same rules as last time “The rules will be as follows, for each match make a prediction for example Bayern 2-0 Atletico Madrid for each correct result you will be awarded 1 point and for a correct score 2 points will be awarded, you will also be asked to predict your most likely result which I will be calling your MATCH OF THE NIGHT and if you get the correct result on this you will get 2 points and a correct score will get you 3 points please make your MATCH OF THE NIGHT prediction by making it a font colour other than black for example Bayern 2-0 Atletico Madrid or putting MATCH OF THE NIGHT next to the prediction. You will also be asked to predict the outright winner of the competition and the winner of each group, each of these if correctly predicted will get 3 points.” The fixtures are to be announced on Friday night so I will update once available but here are the groups Group A Bayern Atletico Madrid RB Salzburg lokomotiv Moscow Group B Real Madrid Shakhtar Donetsk Inter Milan borussia monchengladbach Group C porto olympiakos Man City Marseille Group D Liverpool ajax Atalanta midtjylland Group E sevilla chelsea krasnodar Rennes Group F Zenit dortmund lazio Brugge Group G Juventus barcelona Dynamo Kiev Ferencvaros Group H PSG Man U Leipzig Istanbul Basaksehir

  21. Good Evening Folks, Since the website has been upgraded we appear to have lost the previous thread on NL football and so i have started a new one with immediate effect. As fellow posters will know I am a Chelmsford City supporter for my sins and we will be away to Cheltenham Town in the FA Trophy this Saturday. We always appear to at almost every opportunity to play the highest positioned team in cup games. Cheltenham are currently top of the league above us, whilst in the FA cup this year we met Ebbsfleet who are top of our league. We beat them in a reply at their ground only to lose away in the following round to lowly Basingstoke. Last year in the FA Cup we played Barnet, drawing at home with them, only to be well beaten by them in a replay. They were top of the Conference National top division at the time. This year the only consistent thing with us is our inconsistency. Having lost against Basingstoke in the FA cup we visited them again the following week and beat them easily. Three week ago we beat Hayes and Yeading 5-0 away, only to lose at home the following week to Eastbourne who had previously not won in 9 games. According to the Non League Paper Sutton United have been reinstated into the FA Trophy following our Essex neighbours Concorde Rangers fielding an illegible player in the previous round. Clive what is the latest news on this. Are you now definitely entertaining Lowestoft Town in the next round on Saturday or is it still subject to appeal by Concorde? Kind Regards Dave

  23. Being inspired by @TomSE12 and the competitions he has been running I have decided to give this a try. The rules will be as follows, for each match make a prediction for example Inter Milan 2-0 Slavia Prague for each correct result you will be awarded 1 point and for a correct score 2 points will be awarded, you will also be asked to predict your most likely result which I will be calling your MATCH OF THE NIGHT and if you get the correct result on this you will get 2 points and a correct score will get you 3 points please make your MATCH OF THE NIGHT prediction by making it a font colour other than black for example Inter Milan 2-0 Slavia Prague or putting MATCH OF THE NIGHT next to the prediction. You will also be asked to predict the outright winner of the competition and the winner of each group, each of these if correctly predicted will get 3 points. Here are the groups GROUP A Paris (PSG) (FRA) Real Madrid (ESP) Club Brugge (BEL) Galatasaray (TUR) GROUP B Bayern (GER) Tottenham (ENG) Olympiacos (GRE) Crvena zvezda (SRB) GROUP C Man. 24. i think there should be a dedicated thread for all things horse racing. cheltenham approaches and then we have the new flat season. on that subject, sad news that the 1000 guinneas favourite, Chrisellium, was put down last week after failing to recover from a foot infection. Only a few months after connections had stood with Bo Derek after winning the Breeders Cup for juvenile fillies, their year is ripped apart. i guess thats sport but must be so difficult to take. lets hope for some better news in this thread ......................
