  2. Please continue your regional weather based discussions here: Link to the previous thread: http://forum.netweather.tv/topic/79592-south-east-england-east-anglia-regional-weather-discussion-010314/page-40 ......and a reminder of the Met Office warnings for Fog which may be slow to clear in a few places particularly coastal areas but should thin and lift for most giving us another dry day with sunny spells.. 3. Here we are ....a nice new 'spring clean' thread (as it's officially Spring in Meteorological terms) there are a few definitions of when Spring officially begins the Solar Spring actually began about a month ago (not that you would have noticed really). The Solar seasons are determined by the length of daylight hours. Here in the UK our shortest days are between November and January, and this is classed as the Solar Winter - hence the Solar Spring begins in February. The Astronomical seasons are determined by the tilt of the Earth on it's axis. The Astronomical Spring begins on the Vernal Equinox which is the moment when the angle of the Earth's axis is neither inclined away from or towards the sun. This year the Vernal Equinox occurs on the 20th March in the Northern Hemisphere. The Meteorological seasons are the four commonly known seasons that we all know - Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. The Meteorological seasons are simply based upon temperature, with Winter typically being the coldest time of year and Summer the warmest. The 12 months of the year are split into 3 month seasons so given that the coldest weather here in the UK typically occurs between December and February this is classed as the Meteorological Winter. This ended yesterday meaning that Spring starts today - the 1st March and unlike this thread will last until the Meteorological Summer begins on the 1st June! So as we are mainly here to discuss the weather in this region (with some other humorous, informative and chatty posts thrown in for good measure) tell us about your local conditions and how you plan to make the most of this (hopefully) more user friendly time of year.... 6. Please use this thread for your meteorological musings in the South East and East Anglia region... link to the previous one here.... http://forum.netweather.tv/topic/79352-south-east-englandeast-anglia-regional-weather-discussion-070214/page-40 and for an idea of what to expect over the next few days... ..more of the same I'm afraid http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings/#?tab=map&map=Warnings&zoom=5&lon=-3.50&lat=55.50&fcTime=1392163200
  7. Please use this thread for your discussions about the current weather or what is being forecast for the next few days in the South East and East Anglia and remember although we are blessed with some members in this region who have great knowledge about the weather the majority of the members on here are simply enthusiasts with little or no technical background so you don’t need to understand charts etc to post in here just talk about what the weather's like where you are, the impact it's had on you today, why you love/hate it at the moment etc. it's these kinds of posts that the regional threads were designed for as well as a bit of chat and banter, after all we're British so the weather should be the number one topic for us to talk about, especially at the moment with so much of it going on ! If you do head for the coast in the coming days, be sensible and don't put yourselves or anyone else in danger, the power of mother nature is a beautiful sight it's also a destructive force and not to be messed with. I hope everyone stays safe and keeps up with the Netweather/Met office warnings for the coming days, if you have any concerns regarding flooding check out this link to see if your area is at risk: http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/homeandleisure/floods/31618.aspx link to the previous one here.... http://forum.netweather.tv/topic/79259-south-east-englandeast-anglia-regional-weather-discussion-300114/page-64
  8. Welcome to the new thread everyone; Please use this regional thread to discuss the latest up and coming developments in our area, current local conditions, and enjoy a more general 'chatty' discussion about the weather within the region and also to enjoy reading informative and occasionally humorous posts....all aboard..... link to the previous one here... http://forum.netweather.tv/topic/79046-south-east-east-anglia-regional-weather-discussion-100114/page-42
